Using goggles in the levels?

Has anyone else been using the googles from the story mode missions in the regular online levels? I have been looking around with them in online levels breaking down trees. I found a couple hustle berries and par wood but nothing special. It seems like there are alot of places where you can use them. Anyone found anything interesting with them yet?

On the lakeshore area there's some straw boxes behind a tree. Break the tree and then break the boxes to find yellow boxes inside the box.

Yes there are boxes inside the straw boxes. Inside those are some random junk items, but before the update people reported seeing some red crafting boards there that they couldnt reach. I wonder if it was a moon atomizer, or if theres some board that only drops in this spot

How do you get the goggles online? I saw that exact spot that the picture is of last night and was wondering how to get to those boxes.
