OK, time for the drill...

Are You...

1) Sitting at least 6 feet from the screen?
2) Is there adequate lighting in your room?
3) Do you wear glasses or do you not need them?

do you play with the lights on or off. i find that off helps my eyes but i also should wear glasses but i dont . you might want to get ur eyes checked out.
also maybe sit a little further away from the monitor or Tv.

You only get that to occur when you sit throughout, playing for over hours... Or when you play really late when you're really tired. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif; Just take your time to step away from the game.

dont forget using a CRT monitor is a primary cause of eye strain vs a LCD if your on the computer. The only real remedy to this is to play at a higher refresh rate but I belive PSU is locked at 60hz wich is on the low side and can cause headaches and eye pain for some people. You may be able to manualy overide it with a few 3rd party programs.

If thats the situation your in let me know and ill track down one of the progs for you.

My eyes only do that when I stay up too long staring at a screen..Like now.

I advise you to dim or turn off your lights step back from the TV and get your eyes checked.

The camera is what makes my eyes hurt. PSO and PSU both suffer from a pretty crappy camera control system, in that every time you lock the camera it's quite a sharp transition. Otherwise it's only as bad as any other game.

You may also have a dry eye condition, consider taking some over the counter eye drops (they can really make a difference!) or talk to an optometrist.

have you tried blinking?

i use camera pan more than camrea lock, if thats the case you should do the same.

I have it set for each of my shoulder buttons makes it easy, and I know I play like that for a reason, because the old pso game did it.

They negelected to add camera controls in the keyboard map, so unfortunately panning is out, lol http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I'll tell you what hurts is when your playing in the dark (like I often do) laying in bed with your freakin already bright as hell LCD monitor just 4 feet away from you and some beast nanoblast while right infront of you taking up the whole screen. That super super bright aura it eminates nearly blinds me. Alot of the lvl 21+ techs dont make it easy on your eyes in the dark eather.

Haha, I hate it when they nanoblast in front of you and you are fighting a boss, you can't see what you are bloody well doing!

maybe you should blink more! Ive seen gamers (including myself) not blinking enough because everything on the screen is so pretty to look at.. your eyes could not be getting enough moisture, have some eye drops handy or something...

have a break for 15 minutes at least once per hour, like what any manual suggests.

My eyes always hurt when its the evening and I play any game for a long period, I have glasses so its probably to do with focus strain or something.

Hehe Rena, you'd have to drop out of a group every couple of runs if you took a break for 15 min every hour ;p I doubt you'd be able to convince the rest of the party to do it, after all.

you can relax your eyes by just blinking enough, and trying to focus on things that are further away than your screen. drinking enough water always helps as well.

flatscreen usually help, if the motionblur doesnt give you nausea / headaches.

last but not least: fresh air and an ok humidity in the room.

I use a CRT moniter for EVERYTHING, and unfortunately the resolution that I like (the highest setting) is only displayed in 60hz on my VGA Adapter. Normally it doesn't cause eyestrain, except when I'm on it for an extended period of time. Such as, say, all day. Though I do ocassionally take breaks to use my PC, and the refresh rate there is set to 70Hz and it makes a great difference.

I get the same thing. The faster I go, the more my eyeballs start screaming.
