Just in case anyone is interested, here is my proposal for a possible way to do a future contest that addresses some of people's concerns, as well as my own:

Contestant check-in deadline: XX:XX [1]
Contest start time: XX:XX

The contest will be comprised of three theme rounds and one final round. Contestants will be expected to be prepared with ensembles covering the following themes: (Theme 1), (Theme 2), (Theme 3), (Theme 4), (Theme 5) [2]. Before the beginning of each round (or in the case of the first round, upon check-in) contestants will be told which of the five possible themes has been selected for the round, and will be given five minutes to change into their ensemble and return for the next round. The Final Round will be a freestyle round without a set theme.

Contestants will pose [3] before the judges, then give a one text-bubble explanation of their outfit in relation to the theme [4]. Judging will consist of three criteria (interpretation of theme [5], creativity of ensemble [6], and cohesion of design [7]), and each criteria will be given a score out of 5 [8] by each judge. Each contestant's total point score will be used to determine which six will participate in the Final Round [9].

[1] Contestant order will be determined upon check-in. If the check-in time is missed, contest organizers are under no obligation to allow the late contestant to participate.
[2] It is recommended that contestants have their ensembles saved at the salon for quick changing.

[3] Permitted lobby actions to be determined by contest organizer.
[4] Having this prepared beforehand as a chat shortcut is highly advised.
[5] Based on contestant's explanation of ensemble, but filtered through the judge's opinion.
[6] Is it more than just adding a couple of accessories to a collaboration costume?
[7] Do the costume, hairstyle, makeup, accessories, and weapon/camo go well together, or is it just a random mess of colors and parts?
[8] 1 - Terrible; 2 - Could be better; 3 - Decent; 4 - Good, but not great; 5 - Amazing
[9] Previous point totals are wiped clean for the Final Round.
