Everything works the same but the min and max values you gain are different per weapon type.

It possibly only happens when you transfer save games before reaching level cap.

I just wanted to add a few pros and cons on this discussion...

Megistar only buffs self - if you play with NPC or friends, it's not that great.
Megistar will run out faster than the single buffs...

A bit unrelated, but a nice tip I learnt from a friend was to never use underlines for text on forums and articles online because it makes it look like a link. :)
