Heres an artwork i did as a request, this is a character called dracos from pso-360. He prides himself on his arsenal of dark weapons and equips. Hope you like it dracos, ill send you your sig and avatar later. Painted in photoshop in roughly 4 hours.

I believe such inconsistancy between the sharp detail & texture,(shoulder portion, the back metal skirt thing) and the soft detail & texture; (everything else) Leaves your picture looking lumpy, rather than 3D.
Or perhaps its the shading in general. . that leaves little depth on the body itself and the parts looking pasted together.
The details are good, tho!
Its all painted on the one layer (with the exception of the bkg and blades) with the one hard edged brush, perhaps softening some details would bring the piece together, as the shading is close enough as far as i can see, with just the light coming from only one direction. tried a quick sharpening of details here.

Heh, the sharpening helped quite a bit.
Photoshop is great for tinkering and bringing out the best of what we draw.
