I'm primarily a fan of SMGs, especially with single daggers. I organized my palette like this, however, so I can quickly access my rifle and grenade laucher for certain scenarios--especially in Scorched Valley where I switch between the launcher and SMGs reguarly, then to the rifle for the Zoonas.

Originally I had them grouped together by weapon type, which turned out to be a real pain when trying to grab a certain weapon.
