There is another way to do the mechgun glitch which does not use first-person view or goggles. I'm not sure how much I can say here without breaking the rules, but it basically involves toggling between your item and weapon pallets rapidly. No goggles needed.

This thread again? This is going to be patched what is left to talk about? It is annoying I agree and I have probably have witnessed the worse of it, not able to get party invites.

it's a glitch, not a hack, hell, that's half the reason they release playable beta versions of games, so players can find glitches they missed. It's not something to ban anyone over

People who know how it works, will understand how this will fix it:

"Changes To First Person View And Goggle Activation: This adjustment will cause a delay when switching between normal camera, first-person and goggle viewing modes."

The update occuring on the 16th, for PC/PS2, and 20th for Xbox360 will ultimately 'fix' the glitch.

So, for the next 24 hours, I'm gonna abuse the hell out of it and see how many Carr. Blades i can farm
