I've said this all before, in other threads...but what the heck...these conversations/debates amuse me.
I use the glitch, and enjoy it. Especially as right now my clan isn't exactly in what you might call the best of shape. We hardly ever have a full party to run missions, and frankly randoms just tick me of most of the time. So, the ability to solo S/S2 runs anytime, anywhere? Not having to share what good drops may come with anyone, nor having to endure some bratty kid's whining when you're the lucky receiver of that 10+ star board everyone in the party wants? Yeah, it's a great thing...
Oh yes, to some of you I'm a pathetic "noob". (Such an overused term, that. It's become the net-gaming euphemism for giving somebody the finger.) I suppose if I actually possessed the ability to care, I'd go cry myself to sleep somewhere. Nah...I'd rather just enjoy this fun twist on the game...while it lasts.
As for this debate on skill in PSU. Let's all be honest here. PSU in terms of MMO's is rather simplistic and casual. (The kind of MMO people with a JOB or MARRIAGE to maintain can actually get into, as opposed to a soul-consuming, crack-&-porn addiction like WoW.) Anyone with reasonable skill in 3rd person action games (Zelda OOT, Siphon Filter, Kingdom Hearts, you get the picture...) can maintain a decent skill level at this game. The timed hits were a great addition IMO. They'll make 15 levels of Fortefighter far less mindless and boring than they would've been when I get tired of simply laying waste to everything with my little beast guy and make him a melee fighter for a time. Actually in some instances (e.g. - the Gainozeros at the end of Lightning Beasts) I've found the timed hits on his nanoblast to be more damage-efficient than the gun glitch.
As for Sega, there's no doubt in my mind they want to fix it. (Hell, it wasn't kosher for players to glitch simply so their male characters could be shirtless, for crying out loud.) Personally I think at present they're simply stumped on how to fix it...considering these are the folks who release new content and then half a day later say "Oops! We left something accessible you weren't supposed to see! No! Those items aren't supposed to be in the game for another three months! Give them back!" Then in desperation they hit the SCREW EVERYONE OVER button and roll the game's clock back to the night before. Hope you took a picture of that 13* board you got, cuz it's gone now! ^_^
Although, to ST's credit, they've taken huge steps since AOtI to eliminate alot of the 'eliteism' and 'super-rich exclusivity' PSU suffered from for months on end. New players can come in and actually get stuff in the game fairly quickly. And there's decent weapons and items to be had for all, not just the rich-kids and deadbeats who play the game 24/7.
