Ya, it sucks you failed, but you(others besides OP) shouldn't be bitching about the system. You should know that if it's not 100% there is a chance for failure.
SonicTMP, why are you complaining that every synth(don't get picky about the wording) isn't 100%? Every online rpg game has a system similar to this. You gather materials, synth it, and pass or fail. You lose expensive stuff sometimes; that's part of the game. If you want expensive/powerful items you have to be willing to accept the risks involved in making them.
