The question was answered in the second post.

When someone registers for PSO-World, they have the opportunity to enter the name of another user that referred them. If your name is entered, it counts as a referral for you.

What Ryna said, is that if we wanted, we could set up a system that grants users access to more features, based on how long they've been here, their post count, their referral count, and virtually any other account statistic one might come up with. Access to hidden forums for people who've been around for more than 6 years, for example.

Actually, in comparison to other game-based forums with the same software, this site already offers quite a bit. Take shoryuken.com for instance, a forum for the US street fighter community. While they do offer the use of more features, this is on a "paid membership" basis, something I think this site is trying to stay away from.

They offer larger custom avatars, private forums, user ranks being enabled, a rep system, and no ads if you are a paid member. While the rep system is a bit broken and can be abused, the rest of the paid features are pretty sweet. Granted, I've been there since 2001 and haven't paid for a membership yet, but I'm cheap

Anyway, I guess the point I'm making is that it would be sweet to have the added features based on a time-lock situation or other variables, instead of a paid membership. Like I said, this site already offers more content/options on a regular membership then most, so it would be pretty sweet to see you guys expand on that though time-locked options.
