Exclamation Phantasy Star Zero: The ''Rares'' Database! [BIG Update partly posted!]

    Welcome to this thread!

If you are reading this, then you must be interested in all the rare things that appear in Phantasy Star Zero; this could be some item(s), enemy part(s), and/or even monster(s).

But before we move on, I must warn you, this thread contains spoilers! So if you're the type of person who doesn't want to know any spoilers, you shouldn't be reading this. BUT! Fear not, for if you're just here to look up a certain item, I'm sure you can help yourself using the search function of your browser (CTRL+F) and you will most likely avoid most (if not all) spoilers you would not like to have...! However, I think that if you're curious for any rare item(s), enemy part(s), and/or even monster(s) you wouldn't mind some spoilers anyway, since you're actually looking for some!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that said, I'd like to explain how this thread works. I have seperated this thread in three different categories:

    - Items
    - Enemy Parts
    - Monster Encounters

And as if you couldn't guess, each part describes the details of the subject it's dedicated to. Some of you might wonder why I haven't added the Enemy Parts section to the Items section, but that's simply because I personally think they deserve a seperate section.

The whole ''Items'' section will cover weapons, armour, mags and mag cells, and materials and other Misc. stuff which is considered the be ''rare'' (more on that later on).

''Enemy Parts'' is self-explainable I guess. However, in this section I will also try to explain what they can be used for, and in the case of it being built into a weapon/other item I'll list the method and/or fee it requires.

''Monster Encounters'' is actually split up in two sub-sections. The first being encounters in which the special music appears, and the second in which no extra music appears, but these monsters are also very unlikely to run into (in comparison to their ''normal'' counterpart).

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now with those things explained, here's the final piece of information before the actual list begins...! In order to make this list complete, I'll need YOUR help!

How you can do this is quite simple; Simply post here/PM/e-mail me with anything that you found/encountered and which is ''rare'' (more on that later on) which isn't already on the list. It'd be helpful if you added the Japanese name (and if possible the english translation), a (short) description of the item/monster, if possible a screenshot, the amount of stars the rarity is, the location, and the difficulty you were playing as you encountered the item/enemy. Your contributions are GREATLY appreciated, and you will be given credit for contributing respectively. So please don't hesitate on expanding the list! That is, if your information is useful of course.

Which brings us to the critical defination of a ''rare'' as a whole. Personally, I consider something to be ''rare'' when any (or a combination of) the following applies to the item/monster:

    - It came in a ''red box'' (in case of items)
    - It has 6 stars in its rarity value (in case of items)
    - If it has less than 6 stars in its rarity value it is VERY unlikely to be dropped (and no, a Scape Doll isn't considered to be rare for this guide's purposes)
    - It is ANY enemy part which isn't already listed here
    - In the case of a rare monster, its a somewhat different version of an already encountered monster. Special music can appear, but it doesn't have to. (a monster I consider ''rare'' is a red Yeti/Snowman creature in the snow forest for example. However, the different coloured ''air surfing robots'' are not considered rare, even though one colour appears more as the other).

So there you have it. Please help me to make this a useful list for certain items and monsters, as I'm sure it will be of great use to a wide number of players. So once again, feel free to contact me in any way if you have anything to update the list with!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But now, the actual list! (Note that names with '' are actually names I have dubbed it until I know the actual name)

    Items (NOT Enemy parts)

    Saber types.

Saber type weapons are the basic ’’blade’’ weapons in the game. They are wielded in a single hand. Forms and shapes vary greatly, but all Saber type weapons hold true to the basics of the weapon class. A three slashing combo can be performed with these weapons; the first slash is downwards, the second slash is horizontal starting from the user’s left side, and the final slash is a curling slash starting from the upper back of the user. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Saber type weapons can be equipped by all classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes.

Every Saber type weapon has the option to have one out of two Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Saber type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The two Photon Arts that are confirmed with Saber types are:

    - Japanese name: ワオースライド
    - English name: ’’Flurry’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 15
    - Attack Value: 125%
    - Accuracy: 100%
    - Description: The user frantically slashes the blade multiple times horizontal, finishing off with a final downward vertical strike.

    - Japanese name: クロスレイブ
    - English name: ’’Pressured Slash’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 13
    - Attack Value: 160%
    - Accuracy: 120%
    - Description: The user jumps up, slashing the blade twice with increased pressure and power, and lands down using a somersault.

    Spoiler!

    Sword types.

Sword types are what the name implies: huge bladed weapons which are wielded in two hands. All Sword type weapons have the same structure, with that being a not too big handle which is grasped by both hands and a very long and broad blade is connected to the handle which is held backwards from the wielder. A three swinging combo can be performed with these weapons; the first swing is in a curve downwards from above, the second swing is horizontal starting from the user’s left side and almost covers a 360 degrees area, and the final swing is a vertical curving swing which starts from the bottom and ends at the back of the user. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Sword type weapons can only be equipped Hunter classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes, or can be equipped by all classes.

Every Sword type weapon has the option to have one out of three Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Sword type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The three Photon Arts that are confirmed with Sword types are:

    - Japanese name: ダイナモスビン
    - English name: ’’Hurricane Slasher’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 21
    - Attack Value: 80%
    - Accuracy: 80%
    - Description: The user swings the sword multiple times horizontal while jumping up, creating a combo which looks like a hurricane of slashes. Afterwards, the user lands on the floor a little further to the front where the attack was started.

    - Japanese name: ンニツクレイド
    - English name: ’’Somersault Slash’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 23
    - Attack Value: 120%
    - Accuracy: 75%
    - Description: The user jumps up, slashing the blade multiple times while performing multiple somersaults to the front, and finishes with a final vertical swing of the blade. After this final swing the blade’s end is partly struck into the ground, and the user slowly returns to it’s feet as it pulls the blade out of the floor.

    - Japanese name: オーバーエンド
    - English name: ’’Heaven Cleaver (?)
    - PP Cost: 45
    - Attack Value: 250%
    - Accuracy: 255%
    - Description: The user points the sword in front of itself and the blade emits a truly gigantic energy blade which is emitted from the left, the right, and the front of the blade itself. The blade is then swung to the back of the user, and with a vertical swing both the energy blade and the original blade are smashed into the ground. After wards the blade returns to its original form and is returned to its original position behind the user.

    Spoiler!

    Dagger types.

Dagger type weapons aren’t really what the name implies. They generally are short bladed indeed, but they always come in pairs of two. Many shapes can be found, and some don’t even feature blades! Nevertheless, if it comes in a pair and each is held in a separate hand, you can safely say you got yourself a dagger type. Dagger type weapons can perform a multiple attacking combo; the first attack makes both ’’daggers’’ slash at the target, the second attack only makes the left handed ’’dagger’’ hit, and the final attack makes both ’’daggers’’ slash at the target while spinning. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Dagger type weapons can only be equipped Hunter classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes, or can be equipped by all classes.

Every Dagger type weapon has the option to have one out of three Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Dagger type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The three Photon Arts that are confirmed with Dagger types are:

    - Japanese name: ヒユージクルス
    - English name: ’’Looping Assault’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 22
    - Attack Value: 90%
    - Accuracy: 130%
    - Description: The user uses both blades to make a backwards somersault followed with a quick thrust forward.

    - Japanese name: リパースキル
    - English name: ’’Disc Attack’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 25
    - Attack Value: 80%
    - Accuracy: 80%
    - Description: The user throws both blades in a spinning fashion and after the have travelled a certain distance they return to the user.

    - Japanese name: エアラィド
    - English name: ’’Tornado Attack’’ (?)
    - PP Cost: 19
    - Attack Value: 95%
    - Accuracy: 80%
    - Description: The user attacks using both blades in a horizontal spinning fashion. Three spins are made, and the user jumps upwards while performing them. When the three spins are made, a final thrust downwards is made using both blades.

    Enemy Encounters:

    NOTE!!!
Before you read this part, I must point out that I'm not 100% sure about the monsters being rare that appear without the special music. I am 100% sure that they are FAR less likely to appear than ''common'' monsters though, so I listed them as well under their own part.

    [b]NOTE 2!!![b]
All enemies which are listed here can also appear in the last area, the Eternal Tower.

    Enemies with seperate music:

    - Japanese name: ???

    - English name: ??? (Baby Booma (?) [They look like small little.. errr... pigs with brown fur and a single horn on their nose, resembling a Booma from PSO 1&2.])
    - Location: So far only in the swamp and Ruins/Shrine area (?) [the area to defeat the final boss]
    - Description: Small creatures that walk on four legs. They have a brown fur coat, and a tad pale brown skin. A single small horn is on top of their nose. NOTE! They sometimes appear with their Yellow/Gold-ish counterpart in the Ruins/Shrine area!
    - (Extra) Drop: ???, so far n/a

    - Japanese name: ???
    - English name: ??? (Baby Go/Gigo-booma (?) [Same as with the above mentioned, only then their fur is gold/yellow-ish with purple and their one horn is longer compared to the previous mentioned ones])
    - Location: So far only in the Ruins/Shrine area (?) [the area to defeat the final boss]
    - Description: Small creatures that walk on four legs. They have a gold/yellow-ish fur coat, with purple-ish skin. A single horn is on top of their nose, but it is of medium size. NOTE! They sometimes appear with their brown counterpart in the Ruins/Shrine area!

    - Blue robotic spider - Location: So far (and probably) only in the ruined city area.

    - Completely blue ''Armadillo Lizard'' (?) - Location: So far (and probably) only in the ruined city area(so far only in the boss room, but porbably also in the ''normal field'').

    - ''Tank Robot'' without a cannon - Location: So far (and probably) only in the Moon Base area.

    - Grey ''Chess Knight'' (?) [Looks a lot like it's white and/or black counterpart, being it quite big and wielding a sword, only instead of having a sword on its back its head can be pulled out and becomes a sword, and it seems to have a sort of ''collar'' on its back] - Location: So far (and probably) only in the Ruins/Shrine area (?)

Just ran into Al Rappies (the blue Rappy) in the Maka(?) Ruins. I forget the name of the area, I'm in it right now >.<
I got 2 Rappy Wings and a unit that says something about PA, PP and 10%, I'm guessing it cuts Weapons PA PP cost by 10%.

Also a little later in the same ruins I found a 3* rare Rod, the name translates to "Witch's Broom" and it looks like... well do I really need to tell you? :P I gave it to my FOmarl and it makes her look quite adorable.

i'm gona take my weapon/armor list out of my topic and ceep it to this.

btw "elemental" materials can be bort with pd's, found in any gold field box on any dificalty aswell as being a reward. just to clarify.

There are elemental mats for every element in theory, allthough i only have 3 diferent kinds in game so far.

item is generally classed as "rare" if its osld for 10meseta in shop. (this is my opinion, since red box items that are under 6 stars are sold for that much)

also ild prob upload info on the agito i found later x3

This is マイソドマテリアル, and isn't it just mind material?

Also I got an enemy part from the armadillo type boss thing ロークリスタ "rokurista?" and I converted it into アイスジェットパルス "Ice Jet Pulse" It was only 3 star though...

Well, the character "ma" (マ) looks kinda similar to "su" (ス). That said, you've got "so" (ソ) and "n" (ン) mixed up. <_<

But yeah, it's mind material. (マインドマテリアル)

Also I have a couple of 6 star rares...but seeing as they drop in bunches at the end of rooms, I don't really know who dropped them =/

Sorry I don't have anything to contribute to this, but good job with the guide! Good luck in filling it up for future players (like myself, hopefully) to use!

Thank you all for your comments and/or wonderful contributions! I will update at any time possible, but seeing at how it's christmas now and I have to spend time with my family (I really have no option, I must spend time with my family) it'll have to wait a little longer. For now I've updated it with any data I have available, including your contributions! ANy ''big update'' will have to wait for a while though...

However, when I do update it, I'll be adding these things (or at least in the (near) future):

    - Pictures of the item in case (probably only weapons)
    - The Japanese names (as soon as I have a pc which allows me to write those signs)
    - The required level to equip some items
    - When possible, a more detailed description on how to obtain the item.

I'm aiming for this to be a great resource for looking up rare items, and thanks to you all I think I can safely say it's on its way getting there! Thank you all!

Thanks for the information! About the ''10 meseta sell = rare'' formula I have certain doubts, as some of my ''red box items'' (with various stars) actually sell for way more than 10 meseta, but I suppose it varies with the item(s)? I might add it with the ''big update'' in the ''rare classification'' section though!

You could always classify rares by "redbox rare" and "$10 rare" and maybe "gold box non-rare" for the nice things that drop from gold boxes but aren't rare.

(I wish they kept the useless/gag items at 6 stars minimum. I sold a few things I shouldn't have.)
