Default So I'm getting a laptop.

I'm gonna get one no matter what, but my cap is at $500. I want it to run games, such as PSO BB, fairly well. Any recommendations? The things I don't want to hear are "save your money till you can get a good one" or, "you can't get much with that"

I'm getting one, so I just want helpful suggestions.

hrmmm I know http://www.newegg.com/ has REALLY good prices on computers. The one I bought was through them it is an hp dv6809wm and I got it for $519 (that is including Shipping and Handling). I run PSU: AotI with Vista Basic on it. No problems. I hope that was helpful

My mom bought a Gateway for $499.
It runs BB well, that's where I play it on.

I think a laptop with at least 2gb of ram would be fine
    avoid the netbooks
go with a core2duo or turion
if you can get ati or nvidia onboard gfx that's a plus
but you can still run things with intel integrated gfx

sometimes dell has deals on new laptops around $499

if you cannot wait for a deal, they have an outlet place where you can see: scratch and dent, refurbished, and returned products (they come with a 1yr warranty)

it is only if you want to buy refurbished
there are inspirons and vostro laptops

seems like they have a lot of celerons now for 329 XD
sort by price or set price <$500
    search for inspirons here:

    search for vostro here:
    http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineS...=28&l=en&s=dfb

    hope this helps

I'm still trying to work with the Dell site now, searching for anything I might like, but I did find this one so far. Think it's good enough?

i don't see that dell laptop any more
the dell page changes daily I think, there was a vostro 1310
    http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineS...en&s=dfb&cs=28
    for $449.00
    1.8ghz, 3gb ram, 160gb hdd, vista ultimate :P
but the screen is smaller: 13.3" display

I am not a fan of the pentiums or celerons, I would pick a pentium over a celery

    i'd get a 1.8ghz core2duo over the 2ghz pentium (but thats just me )

Oh, please please do NOT get an integrated video card! Anything but that- especially the x3100 or 950.

    You'll thank me later.

I agree but good luck finding an ati or nvidia for under $500 without waiting for awhile

It has happened before but fairly rare (Last I saw was over 6-8 months ago nvidia and c2d like)

(I bet after I click submit there will be a sale )

some additional linkage for new laptops:
slickdeals forum for "systems", they list laptop and pc stuff in this section: http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdi...r=desc&icon=23
there are ratings per thread, I wish you good luck on your search for the best laptop

    hehe yes pretty much,
what we meant was choosing a non-intel gfx for something with ati or nvidia
