I know that there are many ideas about what affects when items drop. Personally, I believe that rare drop rates are affected by beat times, but what does everyone else think? You can either take the poll or post an answer. I don't care which, I'm just curious.

On a side note, my power's been out for almost a week. You know what that means people? No PSO at all for me!

Aside from the fact the Luck Stat only influences Critical Hits, it's pretty inconclusive what else if not Beat Time influences rare item drops. So, yeah, random chance. boop.

I agree it has to do with random chance. The only problem is, MY RANDOM CHANCE SUCKS!!!!

I know for a fact that it has to do A LOT with beat time and the amount of time you spend in a level. The more you play the level, the higher your chance of getting better rares. I tried it in vhard ruins, and i got caduceus after 30 total runs. Vajayas started showing up around my 10th run. Beats have A LOOOOOT to do with it. I had school off this week, and played in the mornings, got nothing. But at night all my rares magically popped up. But that was in forest only. For ruins it's the other way around, and mines it's like mid day. Caves it's around 400 beats. Trust me on this. At least for Pinkals. Whitills im not so sure about. Luck is just for critical hits and nothing else.

I've play at all times of the day and in all levels. Sometimes you just hit runs where you get a bunch of rares, sometimes you dont. It's totally random, well as random as a computer can be at least. I mean c'mon how many people say that got a system at the casino? I play up there a lot and I know damn well I can loose my shirt in a few minutes, well not really because I make the pussy safe bets =D But still the only thing that has a hand on what the dice are gonna land on is pure luck, and no matter how good your luck is the house will always beat your pair of kings with a jack a three and an eight every day of the week . But hey you may get lucky and he breaks you win, same here if the game busts you get a rare and get to go on to the next had looking for more, simple as that.

I would have to agree with you there, so far the only rare item i have found is Angry Fists and i have been doing ult forest and caves for like ages, and i cant go on to mines because i cant damage them !

I think certain items rely on time, and most on random chance.

I guess given the options, I'd say random chance. Most likely, there's some sort of an interal clock that we don't see. I don't know how else to explain rare monsters and the TP trick.

I mean, if you do the TP trick, essentially, nothing except time changes. However, if you get a rare monster at a certain beat time, and try it again at that same time, you won't get it again (same odds).

The only way we'll ever know is if a hacker bothers to spend the time to break ST's coding (which will never happen). Even then, there are probably factors that you cannot control. In other words, even though ST knows what determines rare finds, I doubt even they can get a certain item all the time.

This may sound crazy... but i think it may have to do with the way u kill the enemy and the amount of damage done to it tell me wat u think

I believe it is affected by beat time mainly because I find nothing in the mornings, and all of my rares at night.

Ex: I was looking for a Secret Gear with my Whithill FOmar. I did 37 runs in a week through Hard Mines looking for it. When I finally killed that ghillic and the little red box appeared, it was Beat 659. Another Ghillic was on his way to hit me so I killed him too and BAM... another red box, still in the same Beat. Later, I find a Diska of Liberator from a Garanz on Beat 679. All my finds seem to happen when the last digit of the Beat is a 9. That's why I think beat times affect drops.
