Import: Some Useful Japanese Phrases? :-)

Guess what is coming out soon? And guess what has a pretty lame autotext? If you answered PSP2 to both of those, you're correct! The autotext (seen in the sticky above) is pretty .. well, odd. It has some useful things, other things are just kind of head scratching.

So for us importers who may not know any Japanese, or perhaps know a little bit, but still want to be polite, maybe share a few words to our full fledged JP parties, I figure it would be a good idea to throw out some Japanese phrases that would be useful for online play. The PS:Z autotext was pretty darn great. It had all the useful things: Congratulations, Hooray, Thank you, Hello, Follow me, Good work, etc. etc. There were so many ways to use all of them, that sometimes it felt like you were seriously communicating with others no matter how strict it was. So lets toss some phrases back and forth that would be great in-game:

よろしく (yoroshiku) Hello.
だいじょうぶ (daijoubu?) Are you okay?
ごめんなさい (gomen nasai) I'm sorry.
ありがとう (arigatou) Thank you.
おめでとう (omedetou) Congratulations!

These are quite the basic ones, but again, I took a few of these from PS:Z, just because they did a great job with the autotext in that game.

Any other suggestions?

During even offline play, you push select you got the typical JP phrases that are use when grinding, inclunding congratulations (omedetto) and stuff like that. There are a few quotes, but I dont think I will play online far away from known friends so I will change my whole menu to one that is full of English shortcuts, like, Wait, im going to check shops and stuff, Till I manage how to type with keyboard ingame. For battle you can always use the inbattle autophrases that lets you have auto phrases like the NPCs without pressingany button at in your customize phrases part in the community section of the Start Button Menu. I wonder if I'll write those in japanese or just in english.

Your right, こんにちは/konnichiha or konnichiwa =Hello, よろしく/yoroshiku is pretty much the same thing but it's Nice to meet you.

It is. However, yoroshiku can be translated as hello as well. It can also be translated as nice to see you, or, nice to meet you. The PS:Z autotext actually uses yoroshiku as its Hello.

My nihongo may not be all that good but konichiwa translates to "good day".

BTW nihongo is japanese for japanese.

ごめんなさい! (gomennasai! you have it written down as gomenasai)
ありがとう (doumo can have ambigous meaning, whereas arigatou does not)

My bad, I didn't realize I was being graded! I would've looked up the correct spelling if it was that important. \m/
Meanwhile, my Japanese friend said that there are like four different ways to say hello depending on the time of day & formality. Same with thank you. :P
