can you only find the cake shop in online/multi mode or does story work as well?

You won't find the cake shop or the pizza shop in any of the story missions. It only appears in the free missions that are available both on and offline.
I found the cake shop in an open single player mission a few times (though this was the JPN version, and I see the sweet redecorate ticket in the shop in the US version so no idea).
EDIT: Found the pizza shop offline in another open mission after having completed the story once in the US version as well.
I just got the ticket last night in a multiplayer mission. Got it on Lord of the Planes C rank. It's pretty frequent.
Is there any benefit to waiting to input visiophone codes for items? ie. Do you get a better version of an item if you wait till your using A/S rank items?
