But he wouldn't exist if Blacula's didn't.
& what's going on in the movie isn't as campy as the name, with actual racial tension of the times personified on screen between Blacula - an African prince who was turned into a vampire by Dracula against his will, then shipped off to America, again against his will - sort of nod/reference to slavery. Then he's shot down by the police for trying to save his wife's life by turning her into a vampire.
Thanks Horror Movies of the 1970's book from the library for a nice summary to learn all about it, even without watching it.
Now I have to buy Blacula to counteract Pat's Brooklyn Vampire buying.
