    While calling it a "familiar" is actually surprisingly appropriate... For things like Navi, the case quickly becomes more along the lines of an exposition fairy.

    ProTip: To damage your credibility, simply call any of the Phantasy Star games "massively-multiplayer."

    Yes, "familiar". I remember hearing and using that with your attack companion in Gauntlet Legends.

    If you're talking about Navi type characters then the word you're looking for is "annoying".

    probably not the best acronym if it has one? lol

    Familiar is the term your looking for, though if you call it a pet most people will get it as well.
