ok first of all me and 2 of my buds are currently aiming for the s-rank weapons but, the problem is we seem to die alot. I just need some help or tips on how the players that did pass challenge mode did it. So far I'm thinking we're going to take a while on acheiving s-rank but i could use some advice to speed up the process. I would also want to know which characters did you use to pass challenge mode. we are playing offline with a HUmar, and 2 RAmarl.

    Get rid of the Ramarls.

One of the characters needs to be a FO for later challanges (c7-9 in particular). The other two should be HUcaseals, as they are the best for c-mode.

Only do two hit combos. Too many times after the third hit you will be smacked down. You can't afford to waste mates.

Look at the maps, and read up on c-mode.

Mos def a force is needed for C-mode. HUmar I guess is okay but you need an android that can see traps and take them down. A HUcaseal is a great character to use. Try to implement that character and a force.

    Quick and straightforward:
One person needs to be a FOmar or FOmarl. He or she should only bother to cast Shifta (Starts with it stage 2-9) and Resta (Starts with it stage 7-9). This person attacks the item boxes and drops the items for the other players.
The other two people should be HUcaseals. Use normal-normal-run away combos with blades, normal-normal-heavy with guns.

That's how to not die! S-rank time not guarenteed.

Short of writing a very long post on this matter, the best advice I can give is to go online and play c-mode with the vets (if you can).

Character choice is up to you guys. Talk it over amongest yourselves and decide which is the best way to go. Personally, if I had the option to go at it with 3 people, I'd go with HUcast, HUcaseal, and HUnewearl.

kewl thanks for the help. so far we decided on a FOmar, RAmarl, and HUmar. we've been doing good timing too and have gotten to stage 3 or 4 and just decided to take a break cause this is giving us a big headache={. only had about 2 times when we started over and that was in caves.(Our Force kept on getting the snot knocked out of him and our HUmar was playing around with low level health and got crushed). The forest was kewl too cause we didn't run into any hildebear's =}. Let's hope it goes smooth for the next few stages 0_o. S-Rank here we come!

FO's shouldn't do melee combat. The only exception is doing one hit when the monster's back is turned and that's only to get exp, not to kill it.

Going with a FOmar and RAmarl is probably a really bad decision... But, oh well.

Just to let you know, the C4 boss can 1-hit kill both the FOmar and RAmarl.

HUcaseal is still better than the HUmar in challenge mode...

    1. HUcaseal is status-immune (i.e. isn't affected by poison, paralysis) to several things.

    2. HUcaseal has traps instead of techs. Generally, in challenge mode, techs are useless to the HUmar. Traps, however, can be used to assist in battle.

    3. HUcaseal has a more safer, better, sword combo than the HUmar. Sword is used on stage 2, and some other ones which I forgot.

    4. Obviously, higher stats in almost all other things.

Oh, apply this to HUcast, excluding point 3.
