you can play for free 100% but it's suggested you upgrade your account though, i dont know all the details for that though, but its only like 10-15$ one time payment and includes a couple days of free premium time.

You can purchase premium time(monthly payment) for access to your room and it also lets you do rare missions.
And there is guardians cash for guardians cash items, clothing, character hair styles, and missions.

Also you got FREE a common box is an option in all shop npc's, upto 100space.

oh well there's Free Course then Premium Course. Free Course does not include playing Rare missions, Using your room, or trading/picking up items and doing side story missions.

Premium Course is about $9-$10 a month. Guardians Cash (GC) is 1000 for about $10-$12 for special missions that have special drops and for the GC Gacha that u can spin for a random chance at special clothes

You still get to see and use all the content playing for free, u just can't synthesis anything and u cant buy/sell/trade anything :P
