There are 3 things about 14* that makes finding them a little treat.
ONE: They always come needing to be tekked so YOU get to choose its element.
TWO: It will always be max element.
THREE: No need to find more to increase max grind.

If they didn't do those three things I can tell you right now most would try to get the JUST for the prestige.

There are videos of people finding tekked 14 stars. They usually have an undesirable elemental and low slots.
In the case of the DS I had virolet on me. Always virolet for raid bosses.

Tch then 14* are more worthless than I was expecting. I think I'll stick with what I told a few team members back then when I was hunting for that Coat Doublis. "If I ever get a 14* I'm going to SS it and then promptly discard it. Because I have been hunting for this DS for YEARS and it still hasn't dropped. But I get a 14* with almost no effort".

Ah, neat. I doubt I'll find one, especially since I haven't hit the point of being even remotely able to do those post-EQ EQ versions yet (i.e. the level 80 Deus-ESCA and Yamato quests.) Got lucky and found my second untekked 13* last night that wound up being a launcher I made in Electric element. Forget the name but I doubt I'll find more to shove into it to bring it up to 60.

The latent increases the chance of items dropping untekked, to the point that you almost never get an identified drop. Because of that, people usually bring it for EQs.

If you bring a crafted one to Zieg he gives you an "emblem" that makes it so you only need to have it in your inventory.
