    problem is

    forward S-roll should be available by default to begin with...
    not "take this stupid ring to be able to flip forward"

    S-roll after all is one of the core mechanic of gunner and part of the fun you get while playing Gu

    it also take away the ring slot that could've been used for other rings, especially later on when there might be more useful gunner ring and you.... can't flip forward if you want to use them

    You can make that argument about nearly all the left-hand rings.

    Is it a crappy way to implement it? Yes.
    Is it useful and better than not having it at all? Yes.

    The implementation of skill rings makes absolutely no sense for left rings, even if the majority of them are awesome. There really is no reason why all the left ring skills couldn't have just been in the respective classes skill trees. Front S-Roll should have been a 1 SP skill on Gu's tree branched off of S-Roll. What would've been a better idea is if left rings were a slot for a 2nd off-class skill ring similar to right ones instead. So what now, I guess that means no more use for class cubes and we won't be getting anymore SP?

    Likewise. What I was trying to say was that in a thread specifically about Gunner, the important question is one of "Is it useful/effective?", and that the complaint raised is more effectively directed at the skill ring system itself than the individual ring.

    The ring IS useful and effective, at least for those of us who play with a controller (for whom palette switching is awkward (either we have to use the clunky d-pad method, or we have to take a hand off the controller), so just swapping in Dead Approach when we need it is not a great option.

    Sorry for interupt your ring discussion, but I would like to ask few questions...

    1) Is Dead Approach/Reverse Tap/Heel Stab able to apply Bind status if as GuFi I have Chase Bind taken in Fi tree?

    2) Is Front S-Roll damage bonus applying to attack/PA(with or without JA) following FSR?

    3) Was anyone trying to considerate taking S-Roll JA Bonus again, with our new feature known as FSR? Is there any chance, that it will be a bit more usefull, when you can move TOWARDS enemy with FSR instead of jumping on the sides(which could get you out of ZRA)?

    4) Beside Freeze/Shock/Burn/Poison/Mirage/Panic is there any other status effect/abnormality that system recognize as Status and give you Fi-tree Chase bonuses up?


    Back to Rings:
    FSR is pretty nice, mostly because you don't jump out of ZRA, and can start with 1st PA on palette + moving towards enemies. Complaints? Why the hell JA ring fall so fast, it should be a bit longer. Its pretty easy to miss it :/

    Which R/ would be better for GuX with tons of Crits, KB or Crit Strike?

    4. Bind and Stun also count as Status for Fi's Chase to proc.

    I think the power notation of the ring is SRollUp (only applies during FrontSRoll only, not including PA used afterwards) ..... Gotta go soon, so I can't test it (got FrontSroll at Lv17 atm though).

    Can't use KB ring if you sub Ra ......
    Can't use CritStrike if you sub Fi ......
    I personally use CritStrike as GuRa
