I do believe when something like this is in play, your best defense, is... Wait for it... common sense. I know skype was a total spam harvest when I first started out on it. But you know what put out that little flame? Changing my profile privacy to receive anything from contacts only. Haven't had a problem since.

People have been trying to do harmful things through Skype messaging for a good long time now. It's pretty much the same deal.

just dont click on links sent by random people you dont know or better yet dont even add someone you dont know personally.
