    I want to be a better plumber, like my brother mario.

    No actually, i want to continue my efforts in stress-management and not get 30000 headaches a year.

    New Year's resolution: manage the panic attacks and mild depression that made me withdraw from student teaching, then complete my remediation plan and try again Spring '14.

    Implying that it could ever be understood rationally @_@;

    Every day IS an opportunity to start a change. It's just nice to establish a bit of a timeframe around it, for the sake of tracking progress.

    Not to mention it gives you a time to "celebrate your new beginning" in such a way that you can splurge on a diet and enjoy the last moments of it before pursuing a healthier lifestyle.

    Or if you are deciding to go to the gym, you can spend 3 days relishing in lazy fuckedness. It's the same reason you have vacations at work or days off (for anything entrepreneurial or where you set your own schedule at least); you could just always get it done now, but sometimes it's nice to sacrifice a bit of efficiency for leniency and sanity.

    Mental health is important, too!

    1 Corinthians 13 Love suffers long, is kind, envies not, isn't puffed up, doesn't behave unseemly, seeks not it's own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, rejoices not in sin, but rejoices in truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, love never fails...
