Correct, the Photoshop there is as "photo editing theme".
you can use any program to edit, you can even use "paint" Just that the "paint" is bad in generally and most people would use other better program as they practice their skill.

Other than GIMP, there is also SAI, I think a lot of artist use SAI to work. There is free version of that for starter too.

well, I'll look into those+^_^+ I've always wanted to fiddle with Photoshop, but my wallet eats moths instead of moneyz, had no idea there were free things with similar quality (and as someone training for a career in the IT field, i can't abide by pirated software), i did look in the past but never found anything very good+^_^+

Can people work together to submit one image? Like for example A takes a screenshot and B photoshops it. B submits image as his/her own.

If you don't mind share your reward with the helper, then you can do so.

Actually, it is impossible for us to know if anybody has someone to help at home or any online helper anyway, so it is very nice that you honestly speak this to us

Just a heads up in case Photoshop is too expensive or can't find a not-exactly-legal version online. PS is the better of the three after all.

Well, it is depend on the user also, some prefer SAI, and they claimed that SAI has much more naturally draw feeling. *cough* it is someone around this forum *cough*
