Indeed, there's often scheduled events at that time (either Emergency Quest or Interrupt Ranking), maybe it would be better for the meet and greet to be like an hour or 2 earlier?
(would also make it a little bit easier for Europeans to join)

How about AFK? thats what I did in PSU whenever someone hosted an event.
