AC from prepaid cards

Can you charge AC using a card you buy at the store? Like, how they have those cards with the scratch-off codes in convenience stores. I know they aren't available in the US but I have a JP friend or two I could pay, and ask them to pick one up at a 7 eleven up there in Japan, then they give me the code. (The one I'm thinking of is an artist, so he's used to handling transactions like this, and I trust him not to just take my money. After all, he does commissions!)

If that would work...what would I select when trying to put the code in?

It's done through the website, and would be obvious enough (like either prepaid AC, or webmoney)
