Exclamation lifted IP ban in 2012 and SEA's IP Block..

Been playing PSO2 since last July 2013 and wasnt aware that PSO2 jp blocked non JP IPs back in 2012 when I stumbled upon

PSO2 JP IP Blocks, Banning Foreigners, SEGA ID Registration Errors… Oh My!

According to the link the ban is lifted around 2012

Now I'm quite puzzled why SEGA did this if they stated on the TOS they're saying that if you dont live on Japan bla bla

Well it looks business, maybe they saw other countries as a potential source of income?

*Sega is to blame, not a$ia$oft* issue

Putting the blame on a$ia$oft on their fb page summons a$ia$oft dogs saying sega is to blame not a$ia$oft logic

I dont buy those kind of comments

lets consider the case of what happened in their RO2..

    1) a$ia$oft was the first to release RO2 and blocked the world except Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand.
Since then, the world is using WTFast which I myself also used to connect and play RO2 SEA One More Time! Bypass Ragnarok Online 2 SEA Country Block ~ KABALYERO

    2) around june they were losing players you can tell on their fb page you may in the comments

    Spoiler!

This time the RO2 NA's NO IP BLOCK, made a sense of growing players numbers.

    3) around september 2013 it seems they lifted an ip block, which were effective during the speech created by an operations director saying RO2 moving forward,

    src:
    https://www.facebook.com/notes/ro2/r...37508706401161

    Spoiler!

We may say that RO2 SEA cant host the whole world because simply a$ia$oft cant but the point of lifting the ban around september, if they have really an agreement with Gravity what kind of move is that?

like if they feel they're losing a large of players = large amount of potential income (which maybe they saw) they can just lift ip bans?

looking at the ip ban lifted on 2012 and a$ia$oft losing players maybe a good sign of making things back the way it has been

That IP block lasted, what, a few days? I really doubt that Sega lost all of its players in less than a week, panicked, and immediately lifted the ban. Besides, people were only banned from creating new ISAO accounts. You could play the game just fine, even back then.

And it was all done to combat RMT, which was a huge problem at the time. The war on RMT ended with an IP block of China, which, if I recall, still isn't lifted to this day.

    I'm with Sp-24 here.

Also, as a SEA player, I don't think PSO2 is going to die so easily in SEA, even under A$ia$oft's management. It'll certainly take a lot more for them to relinquish the contract and ask JP to undo the IP block for the SEA players on the JP servers, which is somewhat more important here.

I do wish they were smart enough to use the ISAO registration IP ban in this case and just let the existing players continue to play on JP though.

    Oh I see,
its true it will take time for pso2 sea to lose players, well, the least we can do is do not support that server, and hope that more people will wake up and stop being deceived by that a$ia$oft

I do wish they let existing player in JP server to keep playing on JP server.

Playing games just to relax the brain, got stumbled with this IP Block :< Still hoping for the IP ban to be lifted soon, but I'm not sure :< I won't touch most SEA-country-based server, since I got so many bad experiences with most games (both from community and the publisher itself). Can't relax on those servers :<

Though I might try using premium vpn for pso2, but I'm not sure for now. I'll wait until next Tower Defense or 10% affix boost, since I want to finish my units (would prefer to dump the money to Sega for Premium rather than vpn, but I guess, it's not acceptable) :<

I guess, it's time to move to another games or move to my Vita, since PSO2 can't be accessed through PS Vita in SEA regions, right? :<

Unfortunately, SEA is also full of people who would support Moneysoft just so they can show off in game, even if there's barely anyone else there. These are the people who are keeping games like RO2SEA alive even now. The whole thing with Bind on Equip costumes being changed back to sellable costumes makes it even more attractive to SEA players, who are used to games where costumes expire after 15~30 days. PSO2SEA must feel like heaven for them.

There are also those from the Japanese servers who would rather just 'go with the flow' and play on SEA now that they're banned from JP.

Don't get me wrong; I'm sure most of us who played on JP are wishing that they'd reverse this too. But realistically, these guys talk with money, and until SEGA sees that the SEA region won't make them much dough at all, they won't undo the IP block.

I expect this to take at least 5 years, if it even happens at all.

I'm not sure what the PSU incident entails. Pretty new around here, actually.

If I recall correctly, the temporary ban on creating new accounts was either due to heavy influx of new players, or CN players flooding the server with bots.

And I believe CN ended up getting banned because of that.
