There was a .hack online game ten years ago, called fragment. Had a short life span overseas and never came here.
After that came The World, by IridiumBased. It's been in development for probably some five years now and still barely has anything to show for it. They do still seem to work on it but by the time it's finished, if it actually finishes, no one will care.

They've already tried when the PS2 was still big and even then it was a flop.

Fragment has a private server being worked on by a very dedicated group of people. It's ALOT of fun.
Due to the rules I cannot talk about said private server any further.

Looking for some old friends I used to play with on a certain famous PSOBB private server. I used to go by Adept who was a FoNewearl as well as RedRingRico while wearing her model. That was 3+ years ago I believe. Please, if you think we used to play together, contact me. I miss my old circle of friends.
That's a private server, the main series itself hasn't had any new developments for quite some time.
I remember the last time .hack being relevant was when I was a freshman in high school and that was around 10-11 years ago.

I remember playing The World a couple of years ago. Was totally unplayable, alas. Seems like it's better now, but indie team still probably won't make large-scale MMO.
Shame that there were nothing really new in .hack franchise for 3 years now (Sekai no Mukou ni was kinda dissapointing though I still liked it).
Should I try Guilty Dragon, btw, now that English patch exists?
