I also preferred the volleyball on the first one, but the major problem in the second one was... lack of local vs mode??? the first one was a fun game to play with friends! I never updated the game thou, maybe they added it post launch (I used the casino cheat to get me lotsa moneys for swimsuits lol). Waterside was the best minigame imo, specially if the girl "died" by failing it lol (yeah... some of them are ninja.. and survive the fall from a building in the fighting games... but a normal person would die from that fall lol)

What characters got removed? I don't get it, why not use all of them?? in fact I was actually thinking why can't they try to make the game more "politically correct" by just letting it have all the male and female rooster, I do know I would laugh hard if I saw Jan Lee and Zack chasing each other at the beach LOL

As for characters cut from the roster. Here's two links. One for the actual character roster, again only voted by one single territory. The other where Itagaki speaks on it, and I have to agree. Especially when some of my favorites aren't all Asian. And yes, you read that right. Only Japan was ever considered in picking 9 out of the roster so you can tell they hardly cared to release it west, from the very beginning. So if there was an SJW decision to be considered, it would've had to have happened from before the game was even fully in development. And that's why I feel the SJW reason is totally bogus and just there to stir up controversy. Alas, I even told that to AlphaOmegaSin before he made that video, but lo he wouldn't listen to me and I know he wasn't following DOAX news as long as I have. He may pretend he was a fan and cared all along, but his total ignorance on the issues the game had before this somehow astounds me given the voice he wants to harp. Sure, it's find to be ignorant of those issues, but I'd do more research before making a video like his. Still, he is one to jump right into issues like these, prematurely, as he tends to do as fast as he could. Especially if it gives him another chance to yell at the crowd he tends to have issues with.

I tend to come from the idea that he better do his due research or he'll become like the enemy he's obsessed with. A member of a group who stirs controversy where one of their sins is lack of research.

They cut Lei Fang (my favorite volleyball partner and my first main in the DOA series.
They also cut, Christie, Tina, Lisa (you know, the character that was introduced in the whole DOAX series, and the only exotic dark-skinned character in the game). What were they thinking? Two of these cut were regulars since the original DOA 1 roster. Also, Hitomi and Helena barely made it in.

If Hitomi had actually failed to pass Itagaki would have been even more critic with them lol she is also my main since DOA3, DOA2 Ultimate included where she was added.

And yeah, Lei Fang was the girl that got along with almost every girl, she was like the default partner every time you started a vacation (other than Lisa).

And I can't agree more with Itagaki regarding Marie Rose, she is even a crappy fighter in DOA5, I can't imagine a Systema practitioner moving like her lol and the other new girl... they didn't even care to use a real martial art... (and I will guess the tengu girl has the same move set as Bankotsubo... I've actually never used her).

Not to mention, she was (by far) the best AI receiver of the lot. The main one I could really count on returning hits from the other team. She wasn't much of an attacker, but she had fantastic stability and recovery when she returned. Plus, Lei Fang and Hitomi were MY team, and my two highest picks in the DOA series. It's like they broke up a good thing.
