I am still racking my brain on finding a use in this class of weapons. Outside of some utility such as the case in TACOs where you're lacking in a ranged/melee option, is there any reason in using the GS?

Also, if you get a 12* gunslash you can actually do some very hefty single-target damage with one. The only thing that really keeps it from being competitive with other melee weapons is the fact that it has no defense action.
It may still be the most fun weapon in the whole game, though, if you don't mind a little extra challenge.

the only one purpose for gs is role play
You can grab a Queen Vera gunslash for some easy PP regen, it's potential is 40/60/80% pp regen on attack, great for gun mode shooting your PP back....
Otherwise the weapon class is kinda poor and could be ignored without hindering your game experience severely..
I use gunslashes a lot and they have their use. I have a Queen Viera set. I use them as a mobbing weapon with the combinations i have set up on Fighter/Techer. Its amazing that be it wand wacking with crafted weapons + ring, or using Gunslash combos... I dont have to run around with 13* weapons going ALL-IN to one stat to one-shot or two-shot level 80 mobs in tandem and that to me is priceless.
Queen Viera is my favorite gunslash in the game and there are maps I simply cant get enough of the weapon.I guess that is just me.
This game is mosly:
Focus on one main attack stat and go all-in on everything to decimate anything fast. Then deal with a community that spits on you if you try to hybrid or do anything to that effect.
