In general, I find it's easy for people to notice and remember bad things, but not good things.
That's why I try not to give people a reason to be upset in the first place.
Once people get a bad impression, it's always difficult to reverse it.
Take my case for example.
I respect the Japanese, speak in Japanese, and keep a low profile.
As a result, almost nobody knows I'm not Japanese.
The foreigners who act like me don't stand out.
So we don't leave an impression on Japanese people unless we tell them "I'm a foreigner!" which is kinda obnoxious in itself.
