Skill Tree Recommendations
Spoiler!Versatile build (extra SP to allocate where you want)
http://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skill...indnib0000000f
--TMG Attack PP save
Some people throw just one SP into this since it's genuinely enough, depending on your play style, you may or may not max this out.
Balance soon from 80% reduct -> 60% reduct.
--All Tech PP Save
Not exactly sure if people max this out or not anymore, this is generally meant to reduce PP cost on Support Techs but some people opt to get S3: Flowing Courage for constant Shifta proc'ing to avoid DPS drops from buffing. I think 1 SP wouldn't hurt after grabbing your other essentials.
--Weak Attack Critical
People like this skill because of the 50% Crit, which is nice if you weren't always have to hit Weak Points to get the crit from it. Generally you avoid this skill because in cases where you're mobbing or breaking parts, the crit isn't proc'ing. Of course it's good for raids because you're always hitting the boss WP whenever it's open but with the extra SP, you can grab this skill if you like or pour into something else.
General Crit Rate
Base 5%
S5: Mysterious Intent 20%
R/ C-Strike S 20%
S6: Wise Skill 15% (not exactly an easy S6 to get so you might exclude this from the others above)
45% Crit Rate
60% with S6
If you already have Stil, you might not even bother with any Crit stuff, again, totally up to you how you want to approach this.
--Victory Shout
It's good for crowd control and quick PP regain during solo and some MPA content (assuming no Hunters in your MPA's are hogging all the aggro to themselves AND that you have a lot of mobs to proc it on, almost useless if it's a single target).
Weapon Meta
Spoiler! So with balancing updates that happened this year, it shifted up the weapon meta for the class. I'll give a brief explanation but it's in this situation now for general play:
Sword = TMGs > Talis
Sword
-Overall still best for general use, from mobbing to bossing. It now loses to TMG's for counters, thats not exactly say Sword is bad at counter dmg either, it's still good just TMG's is now better than it
TMG
-Thanks to the buffs it received, it's extremely beneficial to be spamming TMG counters on any bosses that are hyper aggressive as the dmg from it is just too good. Mobbing has gotten better with it's PA buffs but BNS spamming is still not suggested when playing the weapon as it's STILL considered low end DPS no matter how good YOU think spamming that PA is.
Talis
-Still the classes best Hero Time gauge builder and still excellent in single target dmg. It's counter dmg has fallen somewhat under TMG's since it's buff.
Recommended Gear
Spoiler!Weapon
1. Cras
2. Stil
3. Ayer
4. Atra Ex+. Austere NT+. LS+, Million/Clissa
5. Liberate, the rest of the other 15*s
New and returning players should work on Stil/Pyras series by running Divide Quest or any 15* weapon campaign going on. Starter weapons: Dim series. Alternatively, if you run Primordial Darkness enough, you can exchange for an Ayer weapon (cap is at +30) from Zieg instead.
Units
If you still have Lightstream and want to hold off for the top units, you're fine. If you're looking to jump to 13* units consider:
-Novel/Liberate
-Schvelle
-XQ/DQ units (they're upgraded XQ units but the main stats you want to focus on are from the Arm/Leg which kinda requires some good RNG to get the specific units you want)
Theres a daily Recommended Quest (it cycles through old Limited Quests) that you can farm 2020 Badges from to work on getting a set of Novel units if you lack the materials for Schvelle or if you don't want to grind for XQ/DQ units. Anyway new player can work toward these and it's recommended you do so once you're able to do SH-UH content.
SSA's
S1's

Offensive Intent
Skilled Strike
Strike Boost (of course use Tech/Shoot Boost on Talis or TMGs)
Double Edge Sword (if you're good at countering/not dying)

Offensive Intent
Skilled Strike (1 or 2)
Double Edge Sword (if you're good at countering/not dying)
S3's

Skilled Strike (1 or 2)
Flowing Courage
Double Edge Sword (if you're good at countering/not dying)
S4's
Raising Pursuit
Colossal Radiance
Calming Intent
Vampiric Strike
S5's
Mysterious Intent
Anthesis Cultivation
Mag Build
Example:
Your Mag:
0 S atk
0 R atk
200 T atk
Hero Mag Skill:
200 S atk
200 R atk
200 T atk
Ring Wise
These are utility which I recommend you keep one of these L/Rings with the atk (20) on it or if you want the Defense (20) instead
L/Jumping Dodge
L/Mag Excite
L/Party of Toughness
R/Perfect Keeper (3% dmg increase while you are above a 75% Hp thres)
R/C Strike S (3% dmg when critting with a 20% Crit Rate increase)
--There is a Compound Ring for both of these, stats remain the same, they do not stack. These rings allow you to not have to swap constantly based on the weapon you're currently equipped with.
R/Hr Effort Symbol Ring (1% dmg increase, 10% Crit Rate increase, 3% Dmg Reduction. It's an okay ring but wouldn't drop PK / C Strike rings for it)
DPS Rotations/Charts, High Level Play Videos
Spoiler!I don't have a translated DPS chart on hand so look at Swiki's for the time being:
https://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?%E3%...83%BC%E7%B3%BB
-- Sword
Rising Slash -> Hold for 1x air slash -> Release for floor slam/shockwave 2x (RS->Air Slash->Slam twice) -> 3rd normal attack
Wave of Bullet 2x -> 3rd normal
Rising Slash -> Hold for slashing (DPS drops off over time, not a be all end all thing to do all the time)
-- Talis
Racer Edge 2x -> 3rd Normal
-- TMGs
Moment of Trick -> Step -> Moment of Trick -> repeat (can add Second of Edge into the mix)
Solo PD UH
Solo Guides UH
Phanatical Phantoms XH
Endless Quest XH (albeit this is later in the first lap, starting near Castle siege but definitely worth watching)
