Default BraveWave releasing music from classic SEGA series on BandCamp!

For the sake of anyone who might be interested (and wasn't already made aware of this):

BraveWave Productions has been releasing an eclectic array of video-game music (all officially sanctioned), through the independenet digital music platform known as BandCamp.

    https://store.bravewave.net/music

This unique record label describes themselves as "exploring the interplay between videogames, music and nostalgia."

But, in my opinion, they succeed in more than that!

In addition to offering official sources to support video-game music-composers from both the "indie" scene, as well as providing a place to acquire soundtracks from classic series (including those of SEGA), BraveWave's most awesome accomplishments have been creating an outlet for composers to create ORIGINAL music, done in their VGM style, without any of the creative constraints that an actual game game might impose!

Saori Kobayashi (of Panzer Dragoon Orta & AZEL~PanzerDragoonRPG~) in particular, has brought new soundscapes into existence thanks to BraveWave, which may have never manifested for our aural pleasure otherwise!

The perfect examples of this are the solo album "Terra Magica",
as well as the second AKANE album she did with Yumiko Takahashi (of Suikoden), entitled "JOURNEY":

    https://store.bravewave.net/album/journey

Those two both receive my personal recommendations, but BraveWave didn't stop there!

Saori was also brought back for "Resurrection: Panzer Dragoon Saga 20th Anniversary Arrangement",
in addition to "Panzer Dragoon: Remake The Definitive Soundtrack".

So if you enjoy the sound-style of the Panzer Dragoon/Crimson Dragon series, then there's quite the cornucopia to check out!

    *ahem*

And despite not having been part of SEGA, the music composer for MegaMan named Manami Matsumae ALSO got her own solo album, which was cleverly divided into three triads of new music, each exploring her own various composition styles, entitled "Three Movements".

    https://store.bravewave.net/album/three-movements

Beyond that, there's another release worth pointing out for anyone with fondness for the Ecco The Dolphin series!

"Jupiter & Mars" isn't officially connected with Ecco, yet there are certain qualities, even beyond utilizing dolphins as the main characters, which certainly elicit similar appeal as found in the underwater world we explored on the Genesis/MegaDrive.

    All great stuff!

Now, before concluding this post, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask a pair of questions:

1.) What classic VGM OSTs would you like for BraveWave to make officially available?

(I know my main choice would be the soundtrack to Vectorman 2.)

2.) What VGM composer(s) would you love to hear NEW, ORIGINAL music from? Specifically done in the same spiritual-sequel solo-album format that both "Terra Magica" & "Three Movements" were envisioned as?

(Again, my choice would be the Vectorman music-composer, Jon Holland.
And he does still create progressive-house music, so I know he hasn't lost his touch:

    https://www.youtube.com/user/JonHollandTV/about
    )

    So? How about your pick(s)?

Here's some other picks from me, about which classic OSTs
    and VGM composers deserve consideration:

---The original music to "ECCO: The Tides Of Time"
    by
Attila Dobos, Andras Magyari, Andy Armer
would be a truly worthwhile release.

That game has som extremely memorable music.

Couldn't find any contact info for those musicians though.

---A new release for the original music from "Phantasy Star II"
    by
    Tokuhiko "Bo" Uwabo .
    http://ja-jp.facebook.com/people/Tok...00001911583963

As well as a re-release of the original music from "Phantasy Star IV: The End Of The Millenium"
    by
    Izuho "IPPO" Takeuchi
    https://twitter.com/mito_chusui/stat...08196925902851

These OSTs did get put out in 2008 on the "PHANTASY STAR 1st Series Complete Album",
but a modern release on a worldwide digital platform would make the excellent music available to a wider audience.

---An album of original music from CRUSH 40 could be something really special.

And pretty much anyone who enjoyed the "Sonic Adventure"-era games loved the music.

Jun Senoue did have an active web-presence, but it looks like all his old web-pages are defunct.
    https://vgmdb.net/artist/375

Johnny Gioeli does have a Twitter though:
    https://twitter.com/crush40johnny?lang=en

---An album of original music by Richard Jacques and T.J. Davis could also be a wonderful reunion of the "Sonic R" duo.

Alike Jun Senoue, Richard Jacques' web-links are no longer active.
    https://vgmdb.net/artist/1199

However, T.J. Davis does have a website:
    http://www.tjdavis.co.uk/

---Another choice with high potential is Hideki Naganuma.

The OSTs to the two "Jet Set Radio" games were already extremely diverse,
so a new album made in that style could really run wild in terms of what sounds might be brought to life!

He's apparently got two active points of contact, according to VGMDB:

    https://www.facebook.com/hideki.naganuma

    https://vgmdb.net/artist/1197

    * * *

There really are so many possibilities, but those are my runner-up picks after Vectorman 2's OST and new music from Jon Holland:
    https://twitter.com/Jon_Holland_

(As already stated in the above post.)

Yet, all of these musicians from Sega's past made great tracks, so it couldn't hurt to make suggestions to BraveWave.

catalyze only cascades of goodness, with zero badness resultant.

Relevant to this thread's overall topic, despite not being released through BraveWave, I recently learned that the artist Hunnid-P (who sang on the BGM for Knuckles' stages in Sonic Adventure 2) actually made a sequel-song of his own!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4xnD4VFVwU

Entitled "Pumpkin Pumpkin", this original track is described by Hunnid-P as a follow-up to "A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup ............. for Pumpkin Hill".

While I do like the atmosphere of "Pumpkin Pumpkin", I don't feel it really reaches the potential promised by being linked to Pumpkin Hill's BGM, which was one of the stand-out songs from Sonic Adventure 2.

Of course, this new piece of music was STILL a very pleasant surprise to hear from the former VGM contributor.

Hunnid-P also has some other new stuff as promoted on his twitter:

    https://twitter.com/hunnidp?lang=en

From there, my curiousity led me to discover the new output of some other Sonic Adventure 2 alumni.

Such as Everett Bradley (who sang on the BGM for Shadow's stages).

    https://everettbradley.com/

Now, his original works aren't related to the past songs from his game-music appearances, but it's neat to hear more from him.

    Anywhere You Wanna Be
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEMgBrgKHk4

    HOLIDELIC
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T6needa2cs

These songs are interesting because they show that Mr. Bradley's style extends beyond the type of tracks heard in Sonic Adventure 2.
These performances have a totally different vibe.

Lastly, we arrive at another song which also references the Sonic Adventure era like "Pumpkin Pumpkin".

Crushing Thirties (feat. Johnny Gioeli) by The Chalkeaters

    https://thechalkeaters.bandcamp.com/...shing-thirties

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M-h1fC6EuQ

Now, the lyrical content to this song kinda stings, since it reflects both Sonic's 30th anniversary... and the general sense of things gone awry for the series (and perhaps anybody still hanging on to old memories of what used to be).

But this is DEFINITELY a great example of the potentiality for new tunes by CRUSH 40!

So hopefully this leads to more music in the future from them.

(It would also be intriguing to learn how The Chalkeaters managed to get Johnny Gioeli himself involved. Might be some interesting backstory to how this song came into existence.)

Apparently I missed a "soundtrack sequel" song by Hideki Naganuma from this year!

Not only does he have a Bandcamp page of his own, but Hideki Naganuma has evidently been composing music in the style of Jet Set Radio for a few games from the modern era, including an upcoming title called "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk"!

    https://hidekinaganuma.bandcamp.com/track/jack-da-funk

And this track is certainly everything one might wish for if you wanted more Jet Set Radio tunage!

There's also this one, from a different game:

"For the benefit of everyone/everywhere/everywhen, may these ripples
catalyze only cascades of goodness, with zero badness resultant.

May each song you sample be a pleasant listen, simultaneously evoking sounds from an era-now-past, while treating your ears to something fresh!

Another independent record-label who utilized Bandcamp to release some classic SEGA soundtracks is Data Discs.

    https://datadiscs.bandcamp.com/

They made the music of Shinobi 2 & 3, Streets Of Rage 1+2+3, OutRun, Super Hang-On and Space Harrier available digitally.

    Freshly remastered, too!
