My game locks up sometimes during load times

Any ideas why this happens? It's really damn annoying to lose 15-20 minutes of work, just because of a lock up.

I have this happen a lot too. Mine locks up about once every 2 or 3 hours of gameplay. It always happens on the cd load screen (the blue energy balls rising up screen). However, I always seem to lose about an hours worth of gametime. This really sucks when your trying to unlock the ruins and it locks up right before the mines boss fight, after you've already wasted 4 hours tracking down the columns.
