He's quite judemental towards games. He didn't want to get Zelda Wind Waker because it was cell shaded, but I convinced my mum to get it for me

Excellent. Paper Mario was one of my favorate RPGs because of its style (2D characters in 3D world) and the battle system rarely got old. Thankfully the sequel is being created by Intelligent Systems (who created the first). I hope it has more info at E3 '04.
