I got a logitec pad for it too. They run from 15 to 20 dollars depending on where you find it. 20 bucks at Gamestop (where I got mine)
It has 2 analog sticks and a button set up like a PS2 pad with rumble features as well.

Radio Shack sells a PSX convertor... for like 10.99. It works pretty decent though it doesnt recognize the analog joysitcks for me. R3 and L3, I haven't checked either...
Only detects it as a digital joystick with 10 buttons.
An atari Jaguar controller would be best tho. 12 buttons on it I think.
I take it from these comments that none of you have ever actually looked at PSOBB's pad config... XP

Uhm all you do is go into the pad config menu. Anyway..
Mines setup like the GC's.
Can only use one button for the camera but its no biggy.

Keep in mind this game was originally designed to be played with a control pad, and having tried both a pad and a keyboard to play I have to say the pad wins hands down (har har, I'm so punny).
You don't need anything fancy - I picked up a cheapish own-brand PS2 controller from GAME (EB in America I think) and the own-brand PS2 to USB converter, it came to less than £20
Just get a Logitech PS2-esque controller and be done with it.
Right now I'm using ESDF for movement and up/left/right/down for my weapon moves and traps. I know a lot of people prefer WASD, but I think my setup is slightly better because it doesn't force me to move my hands from the "home" position, where the ridged keys (F and J) are. Switching from chat to movement is less cumbersome as a result.
I must say, movement is still pretty cumbersome. I have yet to get the hang of rotating my character to target to enemies. Is there a better way than tapping S, tapping the Camera key, and tapping S again? If I hold or spam S (turn left), I stop turning and start running. It's a problem. Do you think turning would be very much easier if I used a controller with thumbsticks?
This is my setup. Add a few mirrors and i can feed mags from my bathroom.

ian, if at all possible, could you PLEASE detail how you set up your saitek? i bought a 2500 (i think that's what it is), i'm thinking it's pretty similar to yours... but since i'm such a pc retard, i can't figure out how to set it up like the gc controller. in fact, i can't even figure out how to type while it's plugged in. oh, yes, i am just that backwards when it comes to stuff like that.
