PSOBB: Does it always take a long time to connect?

Something weird with my PSOBB client.

I just grabbed to Beta earlier, but I seem to be having a bad time with it. When I first started, I tried to download the patches, but that took like nearly 3 to 4 hours just to complete it.

However, now that that's done, I tried to start it up so that I could create my characters, but again I'm having trouble with the speed of the connection. I'm basically stuck on the screen with all the binary code flasing across.

Anyone has an idea? My computer meets the specs of the game, although my graphics card is on the minimum end of the scale. I'm also using a wireless broadband network.

Any info will be most appreciated.

Have you tried using your wireless connection in the past for other games? If so, how did it do then? Also, are you running any firewall software/hardware?

Another possibility is that the server is down for maintenance right now....

I disabled the Firewall actually before I tried.

Also, it could have just been a combination of computer slowdown and server being full. Sigh. I finally received the error message asking me to try again later...

I'm getting error No 916. If it's any help in any way towards finding out the problem.
