    There is only one thing I can see,
    A great blackness ahead of me,
    And into it i choose to proceed.

    After this I can finally see,
    That this path was not meant for me,
    It would be the end for me to proceed,

    Thus I choose for me,
    Though I can not even see,
    That death will never conquer me,

    But as soon as I can see,
    A darkness begins to envelope me,
    In terror I scream,
    With no one to hear but me,
    And thus I begin to weep.

    As I look at the last ray of light I'll see,
    I think of what will become of me,
    And with this thought in my mind,
    I choose to rebel against destiny,

    With a great struggle I am freed,
    I thank only me,
    For my escape from eternity.

    Resurrecting this once-but-no-longer "stickied" thread, instead of creating a new one, for two reasons:

    1.) To continue refraining from overloading the forum with too many threads by one user.

    2.) To again highlight some worthy posts from the past, which deserve being read by a new audience.

    Will be posting two separate poems momentarily.
    "For the benefit of everyone/everywhere/everywhen, may these ripples
    catalyze only cascades of goodness, with zero badness resultant.

    “Soaring shapes attract our eyes to the sky—
    Where we notice wise billows as they glacially glide—
    And despite how slowly this stratospheric procession is floating—
    Those herds of clouds know exactly where they are going—
    And they know: they’ll arrive right on time—”

    title: “Cloud-Paced Punctuality (Humbles The Hasteful)”

    Inspired by an actual occurrence I witnessed sometime between 2006-2009.

    After walking down to the shore of a pond that borders my mother's backyard, my gaze noticed some large birds soaring around-and-around in a spiraling pattern (quite far off in the distance).

    It was because of those birds that my contemplations also began to factor the "slow-but-steady" procession of clouds as well.

    That then led to the conception of the original version of this poem.

    "By the birds, a spiraling sign—
    The clouds know where they are going—
    And they know they'll be on time—"

    Which has continued getting tweaked over the years since then.

    Such as:

    "Brought by birds—
    Thy eyes gaze upon a sign in the sky—
    The clouds up there know where they are going—
    And the clouds know: they'll be on time—"

    Or:

    "Raise thy eyes—
    To spy a sign in the sky—
    The clouds above know where they are going—
    And they know: they will arrive, right on time—"

    Not to mention:

    "With eyes allured upwards, by wings that spiral roundwards—
    We behold a second sight: a vapor procession in slow flight—
    Those herds of clouds know where they are going—
    And those clouds know: they'll be on time—"

    EDIT: Plus this version which was up top of this post, before getting replaced by the August 13th version:

    “Circling vultures raise our gaze to the sky—
    Where wise billows steadily glide—
    Those clouds know where they are going—
    And despite how slowly they are floating—
    Those clouds know they will arrive on time—"

    * * *

    And many more.
    (Numerous variations in wording or formatting.).

    It's quite incredible to consider how many possibilities are available to a small piece of poetry.

    Super-massive amounts of options!

    And no matter which version you feel is the finiished poem, those alternate iterations each have their own particular points of appeal as well.

    In the end, I suppose it is personal self-expression being exercised within every miniscule decision of how to poetically arrange the phrases.

    Yet, hopefully, the ones shared here are sufficient to catalyze you (the reader) to imagine something akin to the intended vision that the initial natural-spectacle elicited to begin with!

    This poem was spontaneously inspired by simply sitting mostly bare-bodied in the backyard and basking in the Sun, whereupon the Planet herself seemed to be channeled through the Muses of the Mind.

    Only afterward did I realize that the Summer Solstice was today.

    Which means there's a good chance that the seasonal shift factors-in as a major influence.

    Either way, this piece of poetry is intrinsically dedicated to our Planet we call Earth.

    This poem is actually a mishmash of mini-poems which have kept recurring over a span of YEARS, despite never developing individually.

    But, the experience described is still one of the most important in this present life, so it was worthwhile to try & create SOMETHING that could be called "satisfactory enough" to share.

    Multiple versions of this poem manifested on June 27th, 2022.

    All of them were in response to an honest inquiry during my own introspections that day.

    Each version frames the concern from a different angle, with the chosen version up top being the most hopeful way to phrase the issue in question.

    Things are left open-ended at this point, since I have yet to reach a definitive conclusion on this tangent of thought.

    Dedicated to the source of wisdom that permits us to think before we act!

    1st Version:

    "How can I ever stop holding back
    and finally freely dance,
    when my ecstatic steps
    would endanger the ants?"

    possible title: "THe Dilemma Of Letting Loose"

    * * *

    2nd Version

    "Will we ever be able to dance,
    without our steps endangering the ants?"

    possible title: "The Side-effects Of Considerateness"

    * * *

    Other Version:

    "To dance?
    Or—
    Save ants?"

    possible title: "To Dance (Or Save Ants)"

    * * *

    Alternate Version:

    "Is there a way to dance,
    without endangering ants?"

    possible title: "RESTRAINT (For The Sake Of Everybody Beneath Our Feet)"

    * * *

    Yet Another Version:

    "Since we all coexist—
    ...surrounded by the easily-squished—
    ...little animals & plants—
    Will we ever get to relax & dance?"

    possible title: "The Drawback Of Forethought"
    "For the benefit of everyone/everywhere/everywhen, may these ripples

    Here we have another piece of poetry that manifested in multiple versions.

    Not only that, but the subject matter actually shifted focus after a few iterations!

    Basically, the main theme (of appreciating the inherent wonder of nature, in direct contrast to manmade attempts at evoking awe) remains in all variants.

    However, the original concept was framed as a fiercer comparison between "the superior splendor" of "nature's thunder", which "causes mankind to cower", yet also inspires those same people to imitate that "meteorological marvel" with their own "artificial spectacle" of fireworks that seem quite wimpy when directly juxtaposed with a real lightning-storm's roar.

    But, those versions all felt too negative & competitive.

    Hence the shift towards appreciating "a quieter splendor", with the comparison between fireworks & fireflies.

    Not going to transcribe each tweak to the poem, but since I chose the shortest & simplest version as the primary representation to be posted above, I'll also include a silightly extended version of that iteration as well:

    "On the Fourth Of July—
    All the Fireworks in the sky—
    Fail to impress the eye—
    When compared side-by-side—
    With all the Fireflies—
    Humbly blinking nearby—"

    title: "Summer's Subtler Splendor"
    "For the benefit of everyone/everywhere/everywhen, may these ripples
    catalyze only cascades of goodness, with zero badness resultant.

    zero vehicles imperil one's travels along tranquil trails—

    In the imagination of a pedestrian,
    engine-roars are actually made by distant dinosaurs—

    In the imagination of a pedestrian,
    guardian-angels successfully save all the animals from becoming roadkill—

    In the imagination of a pedestrian,
    every piece of litter is a weird-&-wild youkai;
    quirkily searching for the humans that left them behind—

    In the imagination of a pedestrian,
    no mundane meetings exist because each stranger is a destined-encounter;
    momentously altering the trajectory of your life's journey forever—"
