No, it's not a glitch, don't worry.
In Ultimate Forest/Temple, there's a chance Rappies will be fat. They have the same stats as regular Rappies, give the same EXP, and have the same rare drops.
Apparently, it's an Easter Egg, a tribute to an older Phantasy Star game's boss or something along those lines.
Also, it is possible to encounter fat rare rappies (Fat Pal, Fat Love, Fat Hallo, Fat Saint, Fat Egg), but the combined odds of seeing a fat rappy and a rare rappy make these very rare.
No need to replace your disk just yet ;o

nope, its pretty common. You'll find a few rappys like that, they are fun though. Especially big pal rappys.
