How long can the PS2 version last? The PS3 is already coming out this year, maybe even before PSU if Sega doesn't stop the delays. Is that why Sega linked pc and ps2? So when the PS2 is too outdated people can continue their characters on PC? I'm also wondering how much updates they can fit in if this game doesn't require a PS2 hard drive to play.

Hmm I haven't heard much about it before but it seems your right, it will be. However what about space on the ps2 right now? How would it receive updates?

The PS2 version of PSU is out now in Japan, anything that needs to be saved gets saved on the memory card.

Don't you think they plan to release more than 8 MB of updates at some point?

Everquest for PS2 does fine only using 3000k (psu uses 3500k from what I've read) on the memory cards and it's been going for like 5 years or so now with only 1 expansion disk needed to add a few new raid zones, master class stuff, new race, and some (like 25ish) new zones to grind in that wouldn't fit on the card.

they wouldn't have selected PS2 if they didn't think PS2's 8mb memory card is enough space for any patches that may be needed to be saved on it.

but anyways virtually everything is saved server side now so there's really no problem at all.

Plus PS2 is linked with PC so it will last as long as there are PS2 or PC players still playing online for years and years to come.

and with such a larger community having combined the PC and PS2 versions, it will definitely outlast the X360 version too.

PS2 won't be outdated just because PS3 is coming soon. not everyone is stupid/insane/rich enough to pay 500-600 for a system.

and most PS2 players will never move to PC to keep playing PSU. because of course not everyone like's PC gaming and the hassles of upgrading and specs and all the nonsense, many don't wanna go through all that and rather stick with consoles.

should there ever be a time that they sell a PSU sequel as a new game for only next-gen systems, most people would more than likely move to Xbox360 instead of PS3 or PC.

besides even this holiday season, PS2 and its games will still sell and be enjoyed really well. after all it's more affordable, comfortable and just as fun as the other systems in the market.

and the majority of the 'updates' are already on the disc. they will unlock them as time passes. it is a more effecient way than having to manually download the stuff from their servers, and eliminates the need of a harddrive.

Besides PS2 also has the advantage of not needing to link online to play the offline mode. a very practical and convenient good sign of accessibility.

so ya its all taken care of. PS2 will do really well with PSU for years to come and have fun with PC players just like they are even still having good relations online with Final Fantasy 11.

    Concurrence Abounds.
There will be plenty of PS2 games to keep me busy throughout the next year at least.
And as someone has said before, I imagine if there was ever a large enough expansion for PSU, that they could release it for about $30. The space on the disc that was the Story Mode and Extra Mode would instead be the new expansion data. Thus allowing ye to play online exclusively from the new disc.

I agree, they wouldn't have released it on PS2 if they had doubts that the system could handle it....Besides PS2 is by no means outdated....PS3 is going to be released late 2007 from what i've heard and I wouldn't want to wait another year for PSU ><..........Little off topic but i'm curious if ps3 will play regular ps games.
