How numerous are the boxes? Are they scattered all over the place? How often do they drop loot, and is it worth picking up? Does taking time to smash them interfere with getting an S rank in the mission?

yes, time definitly matters, but some times there are red items drop from those boxes, i have see it.
to make it even more complicated you can scan some normally non destroyable items and u can destroy them after wards for item.
Actually, I thought it was established that time has no impact on your rating for missions? With the obvious exception of the timed trials during the Story Missions in Story Mode, of course.
Yeah, I thought you had established that time wasn't important. But someone else said that time does matter. I forget who and where. I think free missions and rating points were mentioned. Something about losing rating points for each second over a certain "par time". And possibly gaining points for each second under it?

I think it's worth it to open boxes. You can get stuff to sell for meseta and meseta is sort of hard to come by. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a star atomizer that sells for 90 meseta and that's like a lot. omg so pathetic at this stage, even selling monomates feels like it makes me richer.
