So what exactly do you do with them? Plus I found an item in the Ruins that has something to do with Rafoie. Any takers?

Photon drops are used in an online quest, after you have so many you use them to get other items.

The amplifier I beleive you have, is combined with a certain shield, which will increase whatever tech it is power and give you a new shield.
