I can't see either Sony or Sega making the mistake of not having this game FULLY compatible on PS3. However I'd still like to have an official confirmation.

Will PS3 simply perfectly emulate the PS2, so there would not be any degree of performance increase in terms of slowdown at all? I'm buying it for PS2 and this is my only concern. Not like I own an HDTV or anything...

Think it will be in Sega's interests to release an official PS3 version 6 months to a year after the system's launch? Seems QUITE logical to me.

They'll have a PS3 version likly after the expansion comes along.
The PS2 verison should be fine though some upscaling and hofully no worries on the slowdown as the system and more than handle that crap.

We don't know. Everything is just speculation and heresay, no matter how likely or unlikely, at this point.

At the time, there has been no official word of a PS3 release or even backwards compatibility with the PS3. However, I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't ported to PS3; ST would do better to make a next gen MMO to run on the system (like Square-Enix is doing for 360, Vista & PS3).

HMMM.... FFXI on PS3 huh? I didn't know about this. Smart move! I hate that game, but smart move

I'm sure it's safe to assume it will come eventuually.

    It isn't FFXI.

The mmo I'm talking about was shown at E3 05. It was a demo that was shown on the 360 first after the announcement that XI was going to be released on 360.

Later on it was announced for Vista and PS3.

I think it has been confirmed that the PS3 is perfectly backwards compatible to the PS2 AND PS1.

I'll believe it when I see it, they'll say anything to sell a console this season.

The PS3, however, is big enough to emulate PS2 + PS1 software/hardware though.

I can't wait for more news to come out regarding that next-gen MMO. It was a bit late in FFXI's lifespan, but they really were improving things in that game, which means they'll take those hard-learned lessons and apply it in their next game, which makes me excited.

It'll probably be two years or so before it ships, which gives me plenty of time to play PSU until I get sick of it.
