There will, however, be an item later on (after an update or two) that will reset your PM's level and stats. The JP version might already have it, I'm not sure.

The item is called "PM Device ZERO" at leasted noted by psupedia "An item called PM Device ZERO is used to reset your PM's stats to zeros. Although you will lose the level and form of your PM by using the item, you will not lose your money or items stored in that bank.".
Not a simple fix but nice to try out new stuff when the item is released.
Do all the boards disappear too? Or will they stay?
