Well, if you look on the PSOW homepage, in the right hand column, it tells you the release dates.

Buuuut, if you're are too lazy, it's the 24th Nov (in other words, this Friday, 2 days)

Or if you are like some other PSO/U crazed people, we have imported it as it is region free! But there is no point in doing that now...

    2 DAYS TO GO!

On the official PSU site, it's blaring out "IN STORES NOW!!", despite the fact I can't get a copy for love nor money.

Booyah! I'm glad I imported it... Cheaper, and I got to complete the story mode. If I got it on EU release, that would NEVER have happened

I can see where you're coming from here - if I hadn't imported US PSU I probably wouldn't have played the offline modes either

Having played offline mode quite extensively, I'm really glad I got the chance - while offline mode and online mode are very different in many ways, the biggest differences are between PSO and PSU! It's definately true that offline mode is effective training.

Seasoned veterans of PSO have for years been able to quickly jump into new online versions of the game, since there is usually little new to learn and the gameplay is tried and trusted - yet this is not PSO.

It's all too easy to just jump into this game assuming that it's gonna be more like PSO than it actually is, and then struggle to figure out stuff like how to equip your characters, where everything is (those cities are really large and easy to get lost in), how grinding etc works...

Many folks will probably just bypass offline mode completely and go online - taking much longer to get into the swing of things than those with practice, not only slowing down and causing problems for those whose games they join, but also risking being branded a 'noob' and not enjoying the game as much as they should be.

For example - correct me if I'm wrong - a newly created character has a basic weapon, photon art and armour, yet none of this is automatically equipped. This could lead to a load of people joining games with some of the more seasoned US players, and as soon as they're spotted using their fists to kill stuff at level 1 the other players (who are more concerned with rank) would probably kick him/her from the game unless they're really nice folks...

Maybe it would have definately benefited SEGA, the game itself and the online community for the game to be released at least a week or two before the servers go live to give folks the chance to learn the game without jumping online too soon and feeling like idiots.

Although I've only played offline mode so far, I have confidence that I know enough about the game now for me to be able to jump into online mode without a lot of difficulty - just a shame that it's not going to be true of everyone

How did you manage to set up an online account outside of america?
I have my old PSO account on playsega.com and it doesn't list PSU for registering at all.
(I tried setting up an account which reads I would live in america and tried to fill in my creditcard number, but it was rejected.)

The game itself is region free - meaning that it connects to the servers and everything. The problem is that SEGA won't be adding PSU to the Euro billing site until Friday, and the US billing site rejects credit/debit cards and addresses outside the US.

Once Friday comes however, us Europeans will be able to create accounts and log in with out import games (unless we have the JP version), armed with all the practice and understanding of the game gained by playing the game offline for weeks.
