And no more echo-y voice acting. That was my only gripe with EWatLO.
Well, to be totally honest, my only problem with the first game was the voiceacting in general. I wanted to hit someone every time Lyude or Xelha talked.

The battle voices weren't too bad, but I'm so glad that you can turn off out-of-battle voices in that game.

    No order:

Golden Sun (Best portable RPG game series, nuff said)
Devil May Cry (DMC 1 and 3 were best, then 4. Didnt like 2 much)
Final Fantasy (No need to explain why)
Baten Kaitos (Pretty epic game, and damn hard to beat)
    Tales of (Awesome battle system)
Star Fox (Mostly for Lylat Wars, but Assault was ok too)
    Star Ocean (See Tales of)
Resident Evil (0,1,2,3 and CV, not the newer ones, classic RE was better, it just was)
Metal Gear (3 was my favourite, the whole jungle survival thing was really epic, but all the other MGS games are just as awesome)

Edit: Forgot about Metal Gear Solid. xD

But my personal favourite is Armored Core.
I own every game in the series (13 total I think?) and it never gets boring. For Answer is one of the best games I've ever played, co-op missions, arena mode, a pretty good story, it was Armored Core 2 but in 100x better graphics. Also Quick Boost = <3

There's a lot of good series, but only two stand out at the top of the list.

Phantasy Star and Quest for Glory.

I can understand. But I liked how they refined the card battle system in BKO. But then again, I was infamous among my peers for healing enemies when I meant to heal my allies

The VA was bad with some characters (agree with you 100% about Lyude and Xelha) but it was never enough for me to dismiss the game. I only kept them on because I really hate not having the option on. But I'd have my music on when playing anyway so there's that too....

I've always been a really big fan of the retro classics; favorite series of all time being the Donkey Kong Countries on SNES. Also worth playing: basically anything Zelda, the NES-through-N64 era Mario games, nearly all the Mario Karts, quite a few Final Fantasies, the Soul Caliburs, and--this might be a bit of a stretch here, but my roomie and I have lately been enjoying the campaign modes--the Halo games. I'm sure there are tons of great modern series that are just beginning or going strong after a sequel or two, but I haven't done much branching out or exploratory gaming in recent years. I've been digging Fallout 3 and BioShock, but I don't think I've played enough to say they're excellent series yet.

Edit: and not to say that I don't think the series needs and has (for years) needed a series reboot, but the handheld Pokemon games are pretty dece. Nostalgia plays a factor to be sure, but Pokemon R/B and G/S were both really good games.

Phantasy star tops the list, of course. Other than that, Viewtiful Joe, Dungeon Siege (great online play) aaaaaaand...hmm...I geuss the Shining series, Soul especially. Goddamit why wont Capcom just show everyone how its done and make an online Shining Soul 3 for the DS? Pisses me off they wont.
