Why so many female characters?

Faces are a huge problem as well. Character creator templates are very restrictive, so, unless you are making an animu character or Bruce Willis, you're kinda screwed. This applies to female characters as well, but at least their faces are somewhat attractive (and, unlike one of the male templates, have an excuse to look girly).

Well... It's not a big deal for me on this kind of situation that most male IRL characters are dominating the game world via female gender characters in-game. I don't even bother if the player is male or female anyways, as long as the player is friendly, then that would be better.

Even though I'm using a female character, I'm preferring it as a male in-game due to "character story" reasons... xD

Every time I see a female character I picture an obese man who hasn't showered in ages in front of a computer drooling over his character's skimpy clothes.

Here is your problem. You're making an assumption which, while often true, is not in line with what's actually going on. Because of this assumption, you're blinding yourself to several possibilities which would expand your view if you only considered them. Until you get rid of this mindset, no other discussion will change your mind.
So why bother asking?

It's all just personal preference, it just happens that the demographic PSO2 is targeting also happens to like loli waifu anime girls, wow such surprise much shocking wow. I personally don't like showing my face, whether I'm male or female.
