'If it wasn't for that merchant I could have made quite some distance to the next town, but it is to late to leave now. 'Hafnir sighed. Then he said Leona. ' Hey girl. Are we getting any closer?' he asked. 'Yes, we should be nearly there. Leona said. Then she said to herself 'I hope.' The two walked along streets, some were crowded, some were deserted. The empty streets mainly had plain houses while the crowded streets had market stalls or small indoor shops. 'Say girl, how long does it take?' Hafnir asked. It didn't take long until He answered his own question. 'Oh there it is,I can see the board from here.' Leona did her best to conceal her being relieved. Leona stopped in front of the inn. 'So, I took you to the inn. Can I have my money now?' Hafnir laughed. 'Hey now. Don't be like that now girl. You are coming along of course.' Leona tried to refuse.' But, my money.' Hafnir didn't let her finish and pulled her with him inside the inn.
Hafnir walked towards the bar. 'Two ale's or would this lady rather have some milk?' The innkeeper looked at Leona. 'Why did he say it like that. Now I can't possibly pick that option.' Leona thought. 'An ale please.' The innkeeper stared now. ' I-I am an adult you know.' The innkeeper shrugged and went to get two glasses. When he came back he had two glasses filled with ale. 'That would be 150 draco's.' Hafnir grabbed in his money pouch. Counted the coins and handed them over. Then the two went to sit next to a table.
Later that day.
'What's the matter girl?' Hafnir said. 'You have barely drank any of your ale.' 'W-well' Leona said. 'You just drink too fast.' She then grabbed her glass with both hands and drank a big swig. Immediately tears welled up in,the corners of her eyes. Hafnir laughed. Out of frustration, Leona quickly gulped down the rest of the ale without actually tasting it. Hafnir laughed again. 'That's the way to drink.' He then emptied his own glass in his mouth. Then Leona suddenly ran away. Hafnir shook his head.'What a waste.'
When Leona returned she looked slightly pale. She noticed the number of empty glasses had increased two fold, but she did not say anything about it. When she sat down Hafnir asked. 'Feeling good again?' Leona nodded. There was a brief silence before she asked. 'So, can I have my money now?' 'Well.' Hafnir paused. 'No.'What!' Said Leona. 'You promised me that money if I brought you here. Why can't I have it.' Hafnir scratched his head. 'Well I kinda spend it already.' Leona sighed defeated. 'Great, I just arrived here in this county and I'm already out of draco's.' Leona started whining. 'I only have spares left from lunch and nowhere to sleep. Just on what did you spend it?' 'Bed and breakfast' Hafnir replied. 'For the two of us' 'Really?!' Leona's mood immediately increased. Hafnir shifted from position in his chair. 'Yes, a room for two.' Hafnir smiled. Leona's face went blank again. 'W-wait. For two? As in, only one bed?' Hafnir nodded. 'No way.' Leona blushed and shook her head. 'I'm not going to spend the night with someone I just met today! Besides I'm only seventeen!' Hafnir's expression changed and he put his glass on the table. 'Seventeen?' He asked. 'I thought you said you were an adult?' Leona gasped. 'I.....might have lied about my age.,hehehe......'Now Hafnir sat defeated. 'By the beard of a giant. There goes my fun tonight. Take the bed,I'll sleep on the floor.'
When Leona woke up ,the sun was already high and birds sang their songs. She yawned and rubbed her eyes. Then she flinched, Leona noticed her sleeping wear was hanging past her shoulders, showing quite a bit of skin. As quickly as she could, still being half asleep, she corrected the fabric. Leona looked quickly to were Hafnir would be sleeping, afraid of being seen. But Hafnir wasn't there. Leona sighed from relieve. Leona looked again. She now noticed that not only Hafnir, but also his belongings were gone. Leona left here bed and quickly washed her face before getting dressed. The same one piece as yesterday. Leona walked out of the room and took the stairs down. The hall where numoures people were drinking the night before, was now filled with guests, who were eating their breakfast. Leona walked towards the bar and asked what the breakfast was. ' Toast and eggs' The innkeeper said.'You can take a seat there and it will be brought to you.' And so Leona did. It did not take long before a maid brought a plate. Leona, after.finishing her breakfast, walked to the bar again. 'Sir' Leona said. 'Do you know where that man is with the animal pelts?' The innkeeper looked at Leona. 'Hmm,he left pretty early in the morning. Said he was in a hurry, he didn't even ate his breakfast and packed it instead.' Leona was in thought, then she asked. 'How much does bed and breakfast cost here actually?' The man smiled and put his thumb in the air. 'Only 20 dracos per person. We are the best and cheapest in town.' Leona thanked the innkeeper and ran towards her room, quickly packing her stuff. When she was done, Leona ran downstairs and returned the room key. Once outside she grind her teeth. 'He tricked, but it won't end like this.' Leona summoned her black wolf. Surrounding people looked surprised as a hulking wolf appeared out of nothing. The wolf lowered his body enough for Leona to get on. 'Kuro, you know Hafnir's scent right? Follow his trail. Leona said. Kuro nodded. 'Then let's go,Kuro!' The wolf dashed through the streets and exiting the town. Kuro ran easier and faster on the country road and before Leona knew, Portus Vatic was out of sight.
When Leona saw Hafnir in the distance ,the sun had already started to lower. Hafnir was about to enter a forest that lay in front of them. As she and Kuro got closer Leona shouted. 'Hafnir!' Hafnir looked back upon hearing his name. He saw a girl riding a huge wolf. One he had already seen before. 'That girl.'said Hafnir, slightly disbelieving what he saw. Then without wasting any more time Hafnir started to run. The forest path was uneven with holes into the ground. Hafnir did not mind this uncivilized road,in fact he grew up walking on roads like this. Because of that, Hafnir had no problem running on the forest path. The wolf behind him however seemed to prefer the forest road too and became even faster. Hafnir jumped from the path into the woods. The high density of trees slowed both him and his pursuers. Hafnir stopped running away after a few hundred meters into the woods. Before him was a steep hill with dead wood piled at the trunks of trees, forming some sort of natural barrier. Hafnir turned around, stabbed his spear into the ground with its rear and took a seat on a fallen tree. After a while both Kuro and Leona appeared from between the trees. Leona took a deep breath. We finally have you cornered, you can't run away anymore. Leona's hair was a mess with some twigs poking out. 'You tricked me yesterday so I'm going to take my revenge my punishing you.' Leona jumped of Kuro. 'Kuro will make you cry.' Leona pointed towards Hafnir. 'Get him Kuro.' Kuro growled and prowled towards Hafnir. Hafnir laughed and pulled his wolven headdress over his head. 'A fight between wolves, fine.'Hafnir stood up and said.
'Sound the battle music!'
Hafnir grabbed his spear and lifted his shield in front of him. Kuro lunged towards Hafnir. Hafnir braced himself and blocked with his shield. Kuro followed up with a series of swipes with his claws, all of which met Hafnir's shield. Though Hafnir successfully blocked against the heavy strikes he still got pushed backwards by the sheer weight of Kuro's paws. Leona laughed and asked. 'Are you having a hard time against my Kuro?' Hafnir, who just regained his balance, said. 'Heh, I was just testing him.' He lifted his shield again. 'But I have seen enough. You better keep your eyes open.' 'A threat? You have only been running away!' Said Leona. Kuro lounged again. This time Hafnir ducked downwards, with his shield above his head. Kuro's nails scratched over the shields as he jumped over Hafnir. Hafnir stabbed at Kuro as he passed. The spear connected, but it did not penetrate the black wolfs thick fur. Both readied themselves after this engagement. Hafnir blocked or dodged and stabbed when he saw an opening. Kuro swiped and lunged and the only openings he had were protected by his own fur. 'Kuro!' Said Leona, her cheering had turned into worrying.’What's wrong? You are moving sluggish. That's not like you at all.' 'You still haven't noticed?' Hafnir said. He can't move how he wants because of how close the trees here are growing next to each other.' 'You mean you ran here on purpose?!' Leona said. Kuro started to get irritated by getting poked all the time and started getting reckless. Once again the black wolf leaped towards Hafnir. Hafnir took one step backwards and,the wolf rammed into a tree split in two ways. Because of the tree,Kuro couldn't restore from his failed attack. Hafnir stepped forward and bashed his shield with a wide swing to the black wolf's head. Giving a slight concussion to Kuro. 'Kuro!' Cried Leona out. Hafnir then ran past Kuro and shifted his spear in an above the head form. Then he threw his spear. The spear headed straight to Leona. Leona could not react to what Hafnir did and she could only blink. In the short time she blinked the spear and already plunged inside the end of its flight. She could see the the spear's shaft pointing to Hafnir, the other end pointed to her.Leona felt on her stomach. She didn't feel any pain. Then Leona looked to her stomach. The spear was not there. Instead the spear had hit the tree she was in front of and the only damage the spearhead did was ripping through the side of her dress and piercing the bark and outer layer wood of the tree. Hafnir saw he had missed and drew his short axe. 'To bad I missed, the spear is less painful than the axe.' Hafnir walked towards Leona, who was still in shock of what happened. 'Your magic is not enough to fi-'Hafnir couldn't end his sentence as he was send flying by Kuro into a tree. Kuro then disappeared. Leona, with that amount of shock was unable to maintain her magic summoning link. She looked to the tree Hafnir lay against. Even though he was hurt like that, he was laughing. 'How?' Leona asked softly and fell on her knees. Hafnir stopped laughing, then he started chanting.
' Fenrir, beast feared by even the Aesir. With thou power to shake both heaven and earth. Lend me thou power.'
When Hafnir finished chanting his pelts started to glow and wrap around his body. When the glow ended Leona could not believe her eyes. In front of her ran a wolf to her. A real human sized wolf. Not as big as Kuro, but way more feral. Running to her was this feral wolf with its teeth unbarred and the sound of snapping its jaws coming closer each second. Before the wolf reached her, Leona's vision blurred black and she fell unconscious.
