Reported on in English and Japanese, a maintenance occurred last night to clear up some recent issues. Officially, changes to one particular item have been noted.
The Kakwane Madog had various unintended parameters which have been corrected. Statistically, it has been upgraded in both the areas of PP and Tech. The weapon has had its rarity adjusted from 10 to 13 stars. Masterforces can now equip it, whereas they weren't able to before. It now has a description and can also be sold to NPC shops. Players may have to deposit the TCSM into their common box or partner machine and then retrieve it to update the item's details. This won't have an effect on the number of times the item has been upgraded.

As reported on the Phantasy Star twitter and PSU's facebook page, Sonic and Tails will be making appearances around the game on June 23. Players can find them running around the (appropriately themed) lobbies and even playing missions!
GUARDIANS who say the phrase "Happy birthday Sonic" during the event will be rewarded with a Sonic room decoration (to be distributed at a later date).
A demo for Sonic Generations is also said to be releasing June 23. Finally, the figures depicted above are being produced in limited quantities and will supposedly be given out as a part of future contests and promotions related to this milestone for the franchise.

As EspioKaos has reported on the forums, there are a couple of big news items for fans of the Gurhal series.
First up, SonicTeam has announced that the Japanese PlayStation 2 release of Ambition of the Illuminus will no longer be able to access Network Mode following March 31, 2011. From this point forward, a Japanese copy of AOTI for PC will be required to play online. Fortunately, a free-to-download version of the client is available and they will additionally be holding a campaign in April to further encourage the switch. It should be noted that players who do not wish to make the switch must cancel an auto-renewing account themselves.
As one might expect, this opens up the game to changes and additions that the developers may have been unwilling or unable to make in an attempt to continue supporting the PS2 version. Without delay, SonicTeam has also announced the so-called "update 3rd" will start in April 2011.
Those following Japan's happenings know that these free updates (and on occasion supplementary patches) contain additions to the client data past that which is found in AOTI. The first contained weapons and clothing from the first Phantasy Star Portable and later was collectively released under the banner of "GUARDIANS Advanced Content" for the Xbox 360 version. Appropriately, the second of these updates contained weapons, clothing, and even hairstyles from Phantasy Star Portable 2. While not much has been announced yet for update 3rd, teaser images have been released showing higher quality versions of areas formerly seen in PSP2 as well as a kind of enemy spawn yet unseen in PSU. A crossover event is also announced to be held with the upcoming Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity.
After all the requests for PSP2 content and features to be added to PSU, it should be exciting to see what else the developers might have in store for this and later updates.
The next major event to hit PSU on the Xbox 360 will be starting December 3!
Similar to Operation Firebreak, this event requires Guardians to do their best to purify unnaturally cold and dark environments. Players will be given Photon Reflectors to assist with the task. It should be noted that this event takes place not in the present, but between Chapters 3 and 4 of Episode 3.
Previewed recently by GM Edward@Sega, this event has now been detailed on the English and Japanese homepages. The following components are slated to appear:
All of these missions can be found on the 5th floor of the GUARDIANS Colony and will be available until January 20. A special event site will be made available for the event to track point gains and reveal panel rewards consisting of new event content and post-event bonuses.
Additionally, Christmas is on its way to PSU! The seasonal lobbies will be in place until midnight PST on December 26. Remember that Rappy Noels will be dropping Christmas Trees during this time. However, the seasonal items sold at the Variety Shop (Christmas, Wreath, and Xmas Box) will still be available through January 20. A rotation from the Goth set to the Modern set will also take place at Casino Voloyal.
A discussion of this announcement is already taking place in the forums.
Update: The English and Japanese versions of the special event site have been posted.
