Well, we had a bit of unexpected downtime last night, but received some unexpected fixes in return for the short inconvenience. It appears that the remaining problems with broken images and download links have been repaired. If anyone finds something that is still not working, feel free to drop us a note in our Site Related forum.

As of late, I have recieved a number of news submissions that really aren't relevant to what we post on the front page (ie: questions, feedback on the site, or concerns regarding things we have no control over). In order to better direct these submissions to the appropriate areas, here are some tips for members and contributors:

    1. We are not SEGA, and really have no control over any game-related changes. This includes the loss of quests on the Xbox version of PSO. Questions or concerns regarding the actual game or anything directed to the developers should be emailed to SEGA or posted on their official site. The forums are also a great place to post constructive feedback or questions about the game.

    2. Please try to keep news submissions clean and non-offensive. Obviously, submissions that are filled with vulgar language or inapproriate material will most likely be deleted. The same goes for fake news submissions (which we have received a few of). The staff of the site volunteer their time to work on these things, and verifying news submissions can be a time consuming task. We appreciate a good sense of humor, but please refrain from purposely submitting fake news.

    3. If you have questions or comments regarding PSO-World (this web site), it is better to post them on our message boards under the Site Related category. You can also email questions to us, but the message board is the BEST place for them.

For JP Blue Burst, the second part of the aniversary is about to start.

you enjoyed the episode IV drop rate increase, but can't find something in episode I? You're in luck. From July 26th to August 2nd, all episode I drops will be multiplied by 2.

From July 26th to september 20th, if you played on the original beta back in june 2004, but haven't played since then, you can enjoy the game with your old characters. However after september 20th, if you haven't played, your characters will be gone again.

Also you won't have to go through the government quests between July 26th and August 16th. So no need to worry about completing normal episode I & II before moving onto other difficulties.

Also coming July 31st to August 28th, the best ranked players in battle mode will be recieving Crazy Tunes and Flower Bouqets.

    -----

As for the USA's version, the 12th's quests have been pushed back due to a bug that was found.

Thanks to Arislan, staffer here at PSO World, content updates are finally starting up again. No seriously! Need proof? Head on over to the V 1, 2 & Ep 1&2 Item Database and check out the rare weapons. You should notice a new BB tag inside of there and stats on some of the Episode IV weapons.

And so the day has come to an end. To everyone that said all three stories were fake, Congratulations. You fell for the trap!

I played a game of The Boy Who Cried Wolf with all of you. I expected people to not believe any story any more after 2 lies, and that's exactly what happened as I can tell. Here's how it all went down.

Story 1: Episode V. Completely fake. The only thing that is possibly true is Blue Burst USA coming out this month, but that's only based on the front page sega.com poll. The video was made by editing frame by frame at 1600% zoom in photoshop all 18 frames that make up the running animation of a HUmar. That was then colored all over with Blue and I placed that with a blue screen effect on top of a video cropped from Metroid Prime.

Story 2: The recall isn't true, but the lawsuit is! It actually started a few years ago between Immersion, the company that developed the tech, and Sony and Microsoft named as the patent infringers. Microsoft settled out of court, but Sony didn't, and they were slapped with a 90.7 million fine. You can read all of the details here. Sony is currently in an injunction which is allowing them to continue selling while it appeals.

Story 3: This is where the game ended. The trap was set, and the play was made. Everything about this story was true, except for the part about Episode V and that was simply a link back to the first story of the day.

Well I hope you all enjoyed playing in today's little game. Until next year, Happy April Fools Day!

Well, after a little downtime, it looks like Gamespy has us up and running again. While the site was down, it looks like they also fixed the root of the broken image problem, which means ALL images on the site should be loading now. Please let us know if you find some that aren't! We're now going to focus on patching up a few more little bugs (comments, user settings, etc.) and then get working on adding updated content to the site. Stay tuned and let's keep our fingers crossed for a nice long streak of uptime

As mentioned a couple of days ago, we are still continuing our efforts to get things back to normal here at PSOW after the serious server problems experienced recently. Today we have implemented some temporary fixes that have improved things greatly on the site. As of right now, MOST images on the site our loading correctly, including images in our guides, walkthroughs, item databases, image galleries, and more. We will keep these temporary fixes in place until Gamespy can provide us with a permanent fix for the problem, so no need to worry about things disappearing again any time soon! Please keep the reports coming about pages that are still not functioning properly and we'll do our best to make sure everything is fixed 100%. Thanks again for your patience everyone, and please enjoy the newly restored PSOW content! You can read full details of today's changes by clicking below:

As I'm sure many have noticed by now, there are a number of broken images on the PSOW web site. Most of these popped up after the long down time caused by Gamespy's server problems. I think we have isolated the cause of the problem, and we're currently waiting to hear back from Gamespy on the issue. It's something that is out of our hands at the moment, so please bare with us a little longer and we'll try to get things patched up here soon. Thank you for your patience!

UPDATE - 12/29/04: We are still waiting on Gamespy to correct the main problem causing the broken images. However, in the meantime, I have applied some temporary fixes to SOME of the site's images, mainly to the main page and the forums (yes, you can now see the reply button at the bottom of posts). We're still hoping to have all of the images back to normal by sometime this week. Keep checking back for further updates!

*Note: For the best results, please use the default site theme "Blue-Steel". Some of the temporary fixes (such as the header loading) are only with this theme.

Well, that was interesting. For those of you who aren't aware, a few days ago PSO World caught a virus called NeverEverSoSanity. There's an article on ZDnet about what this virus does
